I had it repaired at a local shop for the same amount as the Ebay auctions. Turns out it was the clamp assembly that was faulty.

Anyone know where i can purchase a new DVD drive for a D3? Only place i can find is listing it for $242 which seems absurd. Anyways, my D3 stopped reading the disc after a few weeks of being very noisey. I opened up the top panel and the disc would spin very slowly, if at all. Any leads on a replacement, new or used would be appreciated.
