Avic D3 Install on Fj Cruiser HELP!!!
Buckwheat replied to foshoboikevin's topic in Problems/Troubleshooting
Skip the dimmer and brake cable (do the hack to allow video viewing while driving). I've got a D3 hooked up in my FJ but I had a company install it. The FJ forum is a good website for the FJ. -
I've got the Verizon/UT Starcom xv6700 (which I think has been replaced by the 6800) running Windows Mobile 5.0 & JetWare Mobile (doesn't work without it) and it works fine as a phone (auto-connects). I haven't tried hard to get the voice dialing and phonebook to come over. The music doesn't work at all but I have an Ipod so it's not a big deal. I'm in the market for a new phone so I'll keep an eye on this thread (it's a work phone and we use Verizon).

The search function (or lack of one) is a problem. I've got an I-pod with ~12,000 songs on it and it is very slow trying to find anything. Because of this I generally just leave it on random.

As far as I can tell the amp doesn't have an indicator light for protection mode. It is a four channel amp and I do have the frequencies adjusted as to not overdrive the smaller speakers until the second amp arrives. The volume that causes the cutouts isn’t what I would call excessive. Is this a possible problem with the D3 not liking the Alpine amp? I’m thinking it is the amp not liking the speakers (as currently configured).

Here is my setup. '07 Toyota FJ D3 HU -> Alpine MRP-F450 -> Infinity Kappa 693.7i & Infinity Kappa 32.7cf wired in series on front channel of the Alpine & one set of the 32.7cf on rear channel. I don't hear any distortion at the volumes that cause the system to cut out, just silence. If I turn the system down a couple of clicks everything works fine. I've been over all of the system wiring 1/2 dozen times and I can't find any shorts, etc... I'm waiting on a second smaller Alpine that will be used to power all four of the 32.7cf's and I'll run the 6x9 Kappa's of

Hi, I thought that I'd drop by and see what's happening prior to the arrival of my D3. I'm going to put it in my new FJ Cruiser. It's going to replace the factory stereo. Thanks for the great info. Julian
