how are things going?
Still working on mirroring. No touch input yet.
I have a mirroring concept working but it requires the parking brake bypass. Trying to get around that.

FYI AT@T is clamming sending data to the AppRadio (Pandora, Nav, or just being plugged in) is considered tethering. They are now cracking down on tethering and can add tethering to your current contract if there is continued use.
Really? That's horribly incorrect. The head unit doesn't do any of the work. It's just an external display for the iPhone (literally, in code).

Question is how do install the files on GitHub.
They have to be compiled. I'll start posting packages you can install once it's in a semi usable state. Probably after mirroring is working.

AppEx for iOS 7 is open source and hosted on github:
https://github.com/mikedecaro/AppEx-iOS7
It's a complete rewrite so I'm adding a little bit at a time. Don't expect it to work just yet. Right now, it just allows the AppRadio app to run in the background. Next is the mirroring of the iPhone screen and then touch input.
Stay tuned...

Your a legend mate how much do you need to get this running let's all make a big donation give us an eta )))
Glad to see posts anyhow:)
It's just going to take some time to get everything working again. No ETA right now.
The donation link has been temporarily removed from my website. I shared the code with a couple other developers and I want to make sure the donations go to the right person when the time comes.

Thanks mike keep it up
I don't get how too download install the old beta
You say change and copy the link so I change the number to 16. .? Previous

Can we all pay someone to create a app for this 100 followers x $10 = 1K
Would that be enough for this ???
Hope there's progress mate you didn't say ..? ))) all the best good luck cracking this
The link for the latest beta is http://mikedecaro.com/repo/AppRadioExtensions_2.1.0_Beta17.deb. You can change the file name to AppRadioExtensions_2.1.0_Beta16.deb, AppRadioExtensions_2.1.0_Beta15.deb, etc. to install older versions. Download the file on your computer, email it to yourself, and open on the phone using iFile.

Firstly hello!, long time reader first post....
I am a developer myself and often find discussions on forums such as these can often trigger something leading me to solving problems from a completely different angle. It's usefull, sometime you just can't see the wood for trees.
I jailbroke especially for app radio extensions just after xmas and have stalked Mike D on twitter religiously every hour since hoping for an update
Gutted to hear it has possibly run out of steam.
Reading Mike's explanation on how it originally works made me smile - pretty slick, I like it.
Mike can I be cheeky and ask for a copy of the code?
Would love to have a dig about and see what I can hack together, obviously I'd feedback if I find anything of interest.
I wouldn't say run out of steam just yet. I still have a few ideas.
Just sent you a DM about the code.

darn again... Do you have a write up somewhere about how you're doing the extension?
When you press an app icon on the head unit, the AppRadio app is sent to the background while remaining in an active state (similar to Backgrounder) and the new app is launched. Since the AppRadio app thinks it is active, it still displays a window on the head unit and accepts touch input. The AppRadio app then begins to capture the iPhone's screen and displays it in the window on the head unit. The touch input is rerouted to app on the iPhone screen.

Darn....
Correct me if i'm wrong here, the compatible apps screen, inside the appradio app on the iphone, looks identical to the to the appradio app on the reciever itself(see photos). Is it not doing the same thing as display out just adding touch? Or did they just make it look the same? If it is doing it the same way, is there a way to hijack it or duplicate it?
DisplayOut converts the iPhone screen into a video and displays it on an external device. The AppRadio uses an iOS feature that lets apps have multiple windows, where the second window happens to be displayed on the head unit. The identical screens you see in the AppRadio app are actually two different windows with the same content (programmatically, not just a mirrored image).

Aint been following since this has workd on my 4s
Now i upgraded realise ios 7 not compatible with apex hope theres an update soon
In the mean time a downgrade link will be good for previous appex as i downloaded on 4s blindly and its not as good as before
Thanks donated
All of the older beta's are still hosted on my website. Just take the link from the first post and change the beta number.
Mike, if you're listening, I read on your twitter "@tweakrandom Not yet. I need to figure out a new way to mirror apps to the head unit.". Are you having problems getting the mirrored image to display or the touch input to work? I was messing with ios 7 and AP Extensions, and DisplayOut. AP Extensions, obviously doesn't work with ios 7 but, DisplayOut does work very well with ios 7. If you're having problems with the image mirioring, perhaps you can look in to how DisplayOut does it or use DIsplay Out with your app and simply make the touch input on the AppRadio work to the ios screen?
It's a bit more complicated than that (last I checked at least). DisplayOut works with the AppRadio by streaming the phone screen as a video to an external display. That's why you need the bypass for it to show on the head unit. When a video is displayed on the head unit, it takes control away from the running app and stops sending touch events to the device.
AppEx was based completely inside of the AppRadio app while it was kept running in the background. The mirrored app on the head unit was actually the AppRadio app displaying an image of the device screen. This made reading touch input much easier because it was using the actual Pioneer API and forwarding the events to the app on the device.
iOS 7 broke both the backgrounding and mirroring code, basically forcing us to start over.

Just a quick status update:
We made some progress with getting AppEx running on iOS 7, but many of the features aren't working. Apple made some huge changes to the backend of iOS 7 so it may take a while to figure out workarounds for all of the issues. I'll keep everyone posted as we go.

Anyone with a 4S having issues with preferenceloader? I can't seem to get anything to show up in the settings app. Works fine on my 5S.
Edit: Nevermind. There is something wrong with the AppEx code, causing preferenceloader to fail.

Hey everyone, just a quick status update.
I started looking into AppEx for iOS 7. I should be able to get all of the smaller features working but the mirrored apps may or may not take some time. Another developer contacted me about contributing to the project, so I'm working on getting him set up with the code. Hopefully this helps things move long at a better rate.
I'll start posting versions for iOS7 as they become available.

Hi Mike!
Tell please, when You going to add support for the 3GS screen resolution?
No plans for anything 3GS related.
-
Technically, they are saying to not upgrade until further notice.
You are correct. I missed the "until further notice" part when reading it earlier.

For anyone who is still using the AppRadio 1, I just received this email from Crutchfield. It also notes that the AppRadio 2 and 3 should work fine with iOS 7.
Hello,
Our records show that you purchased a Pioneer AppRadio1 (SPH-DA02 or SPH-DA01) from Crutchfield. If you did not register your radio you may not be aware of Pioneer's recent announcement regarding iOS7.
Pioneer has informed us that SPH-DA01 and SPH-DA02 will not be compatible with an iPhone 4 or 4S that has been upgraded to iOS7.
Here is today's bulletin from Pioneer:
With the introduction of Apple's new iOS7 mobile operating system, Pioneer has discovered an incompatibility when connecting an iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S to a first generation AppRadio SPH-DA01 or SPH-DA02. When connected to an iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S updated to iOS7, the AppRadio SPH-DA01 and SPH-DA02 will generate error messages when attempting to launch AppRadio Mode, Pandora, iPod playback, or Bluetooth calling. The only way to resolve these error messages is to disconnect the iPhone and to reset the AppRadio. For this reason, to ensure compatibility with your SPH DA01 or SPH-DA02, Pioneer strongly recommends that you not upgrade your compatible iPhone to iOS7 until further notice. We deeply value you as a Pioneer customer and are committed to providing you with the most up to date compatibility information. Please note: AppRadio 2 (SPH-DA100) and AppRadio 3 (SPH-DA110 and SPH-DA210) are not affected.
Thank you,
Phil Jones

Mine crashes when launching apps and displaying the backup camera. Sometimes randomly. If you press ignore on the phone when it asks to launch the AppRadio app, it plays music just fine. Not sure about talking on the phone. My mic was defective when I bought it so its not hooked up.
-
Mine crashes constantly. I have a feeling they aren't going to release a firmware update for it either.
-
Also does it only lag on the iPhone 4 or is it laggy on both the iphone 4 and 4s???
. Thank you..
It's only laggy on the 4. My 4S runs fine.
When I ran Cydia this happened:
Not sure what went wrong there. Maybe you entered the repo incorrectly? If you enter http://mikedecaro.com/repo/ into Cydia, the path to the Packages file should be http://mikedecaro.com/repo/Packages.bz2.
-
I've installed the latest version off of Cydia.
I'm having problems with the touch.
Any tips on how I can calibrate it? I've had a fiddle about with the settings but it makes it worse?
It seems that the touch is all shifted to one side. :/
Which iPhone model? head unit model?
-
I've tried that 10 times. Each time I get "Verification Error A server with the specified hostname could not be found"
I switched web hosts a few days ago, which may have caused some down time. Try rebooting your phone and installing via Cydia again (after installing the dependencies).
-
The general seetings on my phone. In the video it says to verify the installation by looking in Settings on my phone. After I click on the file in iFIle, here's what I see:
Sorry folks. I'm a little out of my element here. I'm a mechanic and a car guy. Ask me to rebuild the engine in your Jag E-type, no problem. Ask me to install an app in a jailbroken phone and I'm all thumbs
You are missing dependencies. I believe result code 256 means something is blocking the install from completing. In your case, you need to search Cydia for all of the dependencies listed in the first post (MobileSubstrate, PreferenceLoader, and AppList). Once they are installed, try installing AppEx again. You should get a result code 0 when everything installs correctly.
-
Any news on full screen support yet?
Refresh cydia every morning hoping for an update
I'll take a look at it this week, but I can't guarantee it working correctly on all devices. It's going to mess with the calibration (when enabled).
Does everyone just want the screen stretched to fill?

My AppRadio 3 and parking bypass system is on order via Amazon. I should be able to start the install next week.
In preparation for this I went ahead and installed SBRotater 6 (BigBoss official/paid) and AppRadio Extensions (via mikedecaro.com repo)
Since installing these two new apps, It seems my iPhone 5 crashes every 1-4 hours and comes up in SafeMode now. (when I just let it sit) I woke up with it in Safemode for example.
Since it's happened 4 times, I finally installed Crash Reporter & Syslog. I'd like help reporting what the conflict might be once I have good logs to share. I've been running solid all year until I added both these apps. So until I get a good crash log to share, I'll start with the basics.
Do my apps have any potential conflicts? I don't have TV Out or Dimmer installed (the two conflicts listed on page 1)
I used PKGBackup to generate a list of installed packages
https://www.dropbox.com/s/wdk3ukwt99w8bh3/List%20of%20installed%20packages.txt
I'll follow-up with logs when I get them. I'll probably have to contact SBRotator dev too but thought I'd start here.
I was having the same problem with SBRotator installed. I think it had something to do with rotating the lock screen, possibly only if an alert is shown. I couldn't figure out what the problem was.
I think AppEx and SBRotator overrides the same built in methods for rotation, causing a conflict/crash.
