  1. I purchased mine from abtelectronics

Got the D3X for 795 shipped...

Then am able to get the 200 rebate from them too making it come out to

    595.

I believe that it may be more now because there was a sale at that time...

It's 837 now without the 200 dollar rebate that you need to send in.

Comes out to 637 which is a good deal, plus you are able to get the harnesses and the steering wheel adapters there as well.

I thought that the rebate was not good on any shipped D3X's, only if you live in the same stae as the seller?

  2. I for one have NEVER bypassed any nav unit. Never. Honest. Not even my own. I LOVE to pull over to the side of the road, apply the parking brake and type in my search. I would NEVER ask my wife to do that for me. Because that would just plain be WRONG.

well you are simply unique :)

  3. Speed Sense blue/white ECM

    .

by the way, im hoping i read this wrong when you said you used electrical tape to make connections in home wiring

no offense taken, well i think i can do it, just never installed nothing in a car, just did home electronics.... and all i used was electric tape

    scary isn't it

  4. Your guess is wrong. It has happened.

sounds like an accident I heard about either last year or perhaps the year before in Alaska, the driver crossed the median and hit a car with I believe two people and they were killed.

That's the most "famous" one. Though the ruling wound up getting over turned a few months later.

I remember reading about this but never heard the final outcome. do you remember what the over turned ruling led to. really was a shame to have a family die at the expense of someone wanting to watch movies and drive @ the same time.

usually when my passenger wants to watch a movie I just close my right eye and look straight ahead. ( just kidding)

  5. ummm, not to sound mean or harsh but if you have not installed anything before this is not a unit or the time to learn on. it could prove to be a expensive training. you may want to either find a friend who has installed and knows a little more than you to teach you a little something OR better yet, just pay someone who is an experianced installer and knows the answers to your basic questions. I suggest that if you want to install equitment that you look into some reading materials and maybe even pick up a copy of an MECP book.

    good luck

  6. were these shown at the CES show, I must have missed that booth, probably checking out to many BOOOOBIES. When will the be available and will they have them at BB or CC? do you have any pics or links.

    WOW

oopps, forgot to ask, will it fit in my 1974 opel gt without modifications to the dash?

  7. when you go back have them plug the factory radio back in and test the keyless/ alarm

on the last honda I did I had to hide the factory radio, I don't remember the exact year of it but the factory keyless was integrated in the radio, and for some reason I think that there was something else that didn't work without the factory radio, might have been dome lights.

You're thinking of the 96-98 civics. The keyless/alarm brain was contained in the stock deck. The 06+ are not. Odds are they disconnected something or put the alarm into valet mode. Take it back to them.

thanks for the correction, as I mentioned I could not remember the year of the one I did.

  8. green/ white @ the inst cluster--pin A4, if the factory radio had speed sound compensation it should also be @ the radio harness.

GM started using yellow/ black in 2007 I believe and the best place to pick it up is @ the abs mod under the truck, dr side next to the gas tank. I have found it also @ the junction block near the e brake. ( I know you don't need to know this part but someone else might)

  9. thanks for the help, I thought that I would need to relocate the radio (PAIN in the neck). I'll have to look at the dvd player buttons and maybe even pull the radio out and then try the video system before relocating,

  10. has anyone here fiqured out how to make the factory monitor for '03 -06 chevty tahoes/ suburbans work ( power up) when the radio is replaced. those monitors take a data signal to turn on and I had thought about just hiding the factory radio and run power and data wires from the factory harnes. I just don't know if the data signal from the bcm would have a conflict by having the factory radio and an interface mod both on the data line. TIA for any input here.

  11. tooo much spare time today , thought I would look up a couple other articlesI have seen for the GREAT U A :lol::lol::lol: this one was about his own dads car.

    iTrader: (9) They Suck Hard

will castro's father in law lives 3 miles from my shop in pompano beach fla-his wifes father comes in to my shop 8 months ago and tells me who he is and ask's me to look at his alarm that he just had put in by his son in laws shop [unique autosports] when he bought the car while visiting him and his daughter in NY. so i look at it for him and all i can say is HOLY F'IN CRAP!!!!!!! WHAT A MESS UNDER THE DASH-and 2 bare wires! i end up rewiring the alarm real quick for him at no charge and he paid me the have my boy's tint his window's. 3 weeks later i get a box from u.p.s sent to me with a thank you note and a t-shirt and hat from will [the dumb a$$]castro. the shirt and hat went in to the salvation armys donation hut at the end of the street-then 2 months after that i wired DMX'S brand new benz that they f'ed all up.that cost him $2000 to have me fix their short coming's! i wish i had a picture of that mess.

  12. plus they have it soooo easy. a typical "ballin" customer will drop off a car and leave it as long as he needs it. notice all the cars just sitting around the shop? those arent wills cars.

he probably sells the local dealers storage space for their rides to keep 'em off the street, they can't be confiscated if the law can't find 'em

  13. an alarm is only as good as the install. I love those that have the alarm brains right under the drivers dash and not hidden. I remember a customer coming into our shop to have new equitment installed. he had been at a different shop and had a full system installed and an alarm. not only did his truck get stolen out of his driveway a short time after the work was done but to add insult to injury the thief ripped out the alarm brain and left IT on the driveway where the truck was. now thats pretty f***d up.

  14. I have only seen a few episodes and I always thought the quality of the work done was terrible! Panels that don't like up properly; screws covered with plugs through the leather or vinyl to keep panels down; etc. The only really nice work I saw on the show was the episode where they called in all the famous installers to help. It was steve brown, fishman, and some other big dude

the other guy was gary biggs, that was about the only real nice job, it was the hearst for a race car driver, I forget who it was I don't follow car races. I would think that the work would be a little more complete being the people the do the work for are willing to pay the money. ahhh the presteige of saying I had MY work done at UA.:roll::roll::roll:

  15. when you get lucky enough to service pro atheletes and other entertainers with some quality work (?) or better than what is available around town you also are able to charge what is accepted. I found years ago that some people perceive a higher price = better work. however a believe in giving quality work at a quality price without ripping someone off. I have had customers come back to me after having someone else do the work and charge more for the job and also having cut corners with lack of quality.

As far as for UA's installers sometimes the work is good but it seems like they are rush jobs, I was watching an episode the other night when the did an Escalade fiberglass box with a nice conturing amp rack. this job is perceived to have been done in 1 day. painted the next day and installed with delivery that night. I have done fiberglass work and maybe I'm doing something wrong.

When I am watching the show I am watching ( being open minded) for any ideas but these guys do have attitudes with slightly foul mouths. I wonder if some of it is for tv. Also I really do not care about his new home, anniversary, his going to the beach with his family or any of his personal life about "how hard he worked in the past to rise above everything" in order to get to where he is. sometimes I feel like he was in the right spot at the right time. I am interested in a show with quality work without an I'm better than you attitude. There are alot of quality shops out there that do as good if not better work.

    sorry for rantting.
