  1. Thanks...but how do I now get to the settings to review them...if I cant get past the black camera warning screen in any fashion?

Finally had to just re-install the entire 3.0 from one of the threads in this forum. then I was able to get to the main menus, and turn the backup camera setting to "off". This was just poor coding from the beginning. First...the code should NEVER allow you to get permanently stuck on ANY screen without being able to get past it. Second...the update should have never just turned "on" the backup camera function on its own.

    Anyways..problem solved.

  2. So the update finally was fully successful, with all successful messages.

Now first drive after update...and it boots fine to splash screen, then a black screen with "warning: Images may be reversed". I can control the media/audio from the steering wheel controls, but nothing happens when I touch the screen or press the buttons on the unit. *sigh* Im permanently stuck on this black screen at all times.

Any suggestions? I've never used a backup camera on this unit, and the only mod is the hardwire bypass.

  3. Lol. 18 threads detailing either issues with Ipods not being recognized and/or sound failing from one side. Yeah, thats widespread. And for your knowledge, I did receive a PM from a Pioneer Rep who saw this thread and informed me that Pioneer is aware of the issue, and they have been researching in the lab but need more info, and asked me for specifics surrounding my install, and the circumstances when the problem occurs, and what specific IPOD and cable that I am using, including firmware #. He instructed me to plug in a music filled USB thumb drive in the USB slot to determine if the issue is still there. I have reported my results back to the engineer, who is diagnosing further. But guess what...since this thread is "fail"....why would I post more details in a "failed" thread. 8)

And you think the Pioneer rep specifically came to you because you whined here to have Jason magically snap his finger to have them come to your aid?

Because you have single-handedly identified a HUGE ONGOING problem that all units are defective? I don't think so.. the issue is not as wide-spread as you seem to think, just because you're affected does not make it THE MOST IMPORTANT PROBLEM IN THE WORLD!

The Pioneer rep was there because this site is a valuable resource, and it's thanks to many people who have put in a great deal of hard work, Jason especially, that made it so.

Nope. I think the rep contacted me because..Pioneer seems to sincerely want to address the problem. And Pioneer is well aware of the ipod issues with the f-series, moresoe the random non-recognition issue than the sound issue, but but they are well aware llof both. Have you NOT sen all of the different threads/posts on the Ipod issues?? And thats just from this small audience on this forum. Imagine the larger scope.

  5. Hi. Seems like you have some connects with Pioneer? Not sure if you've noticed, but there appears to be a fairly widespread significant issue with Ipods and Avic F series. It is VERY annoying...almost makes the Avic F not worth owning. Seriously. It is THAT bad for those of us who use the IPOD as their primary music source.

Pls check these threads for more details, and let us know if Pioneer is aware, and what their OFFICIAL position is. Thanks

  6. figured out that it was a loose pin in the harness

Could you elaborate a bit? Mine is still exhibiting the symptoms and usually has the issue very smoothly. Fades out from left to right and may decide to fade back in right to left. Right channel always fine. Left channel may be fine, then may slowly fade completely out. Never in any abrubt manner or over bumps. not exhbiting any sort of loose connection type issue at all. Seems like its software related?

  7. this one is pretty interesting

ONLY when im in the "music videos" section of my ipod, my avic-700bt seems to randomly select what video its going to play, rather than just playing the one i select

this happens even if i go into a specific artists music videos - for example - i click on music videos - artists - kanye west - select the flashing lights video, and all of the sudden, some other random music video will play

ill go back and repeat the same steps - and some completely OTHER video starts to play (and no - its not even a kanye video - just something thats tagged as a "music video")

this also happens when im just scrolling through the entire list of music videos - no matter what i select, it never gets played - something else gets played

this does not happen when choosing tv shows or movies

    any ideas?

    the only mods/hacks i have:

    - i replaced the beeps with the silence.wav

    - i have keeper's data.zip

    - ive added the speedcam files

i dont see why any of these would affect the ipod functionality, but then again - i dont know too much about any of it...

    any help would be awesome

Press the "func" in the top right hand corner of the avic screen when you are in Ipod mode. Turn off shuffle mode completely. Return to Ipod Videos. The videos will now play as you select them.

  8. "The video will start playback from where it left off once you select it again."

My unit does not do this,it starts the video over when the car is restarted. Is there a setting somewhere that I need to change to get this to work? I use my Ipod for about 80% video podcast viewing and this is the most annoying feature to have to remember where you left off, shut the car off, do your business, get back in the car, select it again, and fast forward to where you left off. I am using a Ipod 30 GB if that helps.

    Thanks

Yes..its a setting within Itunes. I forget the actual setting, but select one of your videos in Itune, then check the tab for the various properties/settings for that video. You will see "remember start point" or something like that. I also found that if my Ipod is in "shuffle all songs" mode, i have random video playback..sometimes the videos wont play at all.
