  1. I just upgraded from the 8200nex to the 8400nex. It looks like the physical buttons for "next track" and "previous track" were removed!  Does anyone else like to skip songs a lot when streaming? Are you just using the touchscreen buttons to skip tracks or is there a way to program the physical buttons?

  2. I upgraded my iphone 6+ from ios 8.3 to 8.4.1 and I started getting random hard lockups. I have my phone connected to the NEX when I start the car, maybe that has something to do with it. The exact issue has been reported by many people after they upgraded from 8.3.

I managed to downgrade to 8.4 (8.3 was already disallowed by Apple), reset my NEX, and reset my iphone, and so far it's been working okay... crossing fingers.

  3. Just another quick question I'm hoping one of the experts can answer.

If I have the 8000 connected to an Android phone running AR Unchained, and I'm running a phone app like Google Maps, can I still play music from the 8000 unit (like off the SD card?) simultaneously? Or do I have to play music from the Android phone too if I'm using the ARU mode?

(I'm curious because I hate to send audio over the BT connection due to the audio compression).

  4. It's all analog over the AV mini-plug. Simple to prove - just unplug the mini plug and try playing ipod audio (mp3 or aac), You will be able to control the ipod, but you won't see cover art or hear anything.

That's weird, just tried it. When I unplugged the miniplug, there was still mp3 audio playing through the ipod connector. This is with an ipod mini gen2.

Which ipod did you try it with?

  5. Who knows the answer for sure? I've heard that for audio (mp3) playback, the audio signal is digital through the USB connection into the AVIC, and for video playback, the sound is routed analog through the mini-jack into the AVIC. I've also heard that for both audio and video, the audio signals are analog and routed through the mini-jack. Help.

  6. I really don't see how it could be any easier.

Well, the current system requires you to look at the screen and touch two tiny screen buttons. That's requires you to look at the screen (instead of the road) for 3-4 seconds. OTOH, when there's a physical knob, it just requires a 0.5 sec glance to locate the knob, then you can rotate the knob by feel. I happen to do a lot of zooming in/out when I'm navigating by gps. Maybe others don't.

  7. Please help the noob. I know there's no 2-finger pinch like on a smartphone, but is there a quick way or shortcut to zoom in/out on the map in navi mode? Or is the only way to select the magnifying glass icon and then select either +/- or the actual magnification? Most OEM car navi's have a way to zoom in/out easy, like by rotating a physical knob, so I kind of miss that ability. Thanks!

  8. just got the z130bt. Whenever I do voice entry for navi destination, it always defaults to Alabama as the state and I have to change it. Is there a way to make it default to a different state at the first voice prompt?

  9. For it would be because the 930 is absent of voice control for nav. Just as easy to get a 920 and upgrade to 930 and retain VC.

Yeah, need the voice control. I guess I could get the Z130BT, or the Kenwood 9980HD...or wait for the Clarion NX702.
