  1. i had the F90bt before i bought the z110. I know the X has replaced the F series b ut i would recomend to stay away from it as i did not like the f at all. It was super hack friendly which was cool BUT the boot time of 30 seconds and the laginess of the buttons was unacceptable for the price and the constant delay of the unit. I also had the d3 unit which was an older unit but it worked great only down side was you needed a cd for the maps. Wasnt a big deal just needed the 6 disc changer. I also had the N2 or 3 cant remember. That was a great unit aswell but again the cd was needed for the nav again. Personally didnt like the flip function though

The x920BT has absolutely nothing to do with the F series. It is the smaller version of the z120BT, same hardware, same software, smaller screen, few different features in software is all.

I didnt know that but thank you for clarifying

  3. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but manufacturers like sony, pioneer, kenwood, clarion and etc have all hit a brick wall. Consumers purchasing these units are going for the lower end models without the navigation. Reason being is people want to have a screen in their car. Most of that percentage doesnt want to spend the money on one with the nav. For example you can have a pioneer 5.8inch screen no nav (AVH-P3100DVD) for 450$ (CDN pricing)

    click link

and then you jump in to the cheapeest pioneer nav system with a 4.3inch screen (AVIC-U310BT) for 450$ (CDN pricing)

    click link

Then you ask yourself what do i want more a larger screen or a nav? Either way you sacrifice one or the other. The consumer then looks at a bigger screen navi system which would be the x920 at a price of 1300$ almost triple the other 2

    click link

Then the consumer looks at well i can get the AVH-P3100 and get a portable nav for 100$ (TomTom 4.3" GPS (XL330S))

    click link

The consumer is more then likely going to go that route. Why? its a hole pile cheaper then if he goes and buys the 920 or the Z units or even the f series. The gps can be take out of the car and you can take it with you werever you go. You are not bound to 1 car and 1 car only. A friend of mine who is in to the business said that over the course of the next 24months car audio units especially ones like ours are going to be dropping in price relatively drastically. People dont want to pay for these units simply because they know they can get it cheaper and noone can justify spending that kind of money on a radio. Of course enthusiasts like us will continue to purchase them but to each their own

  4. i love my xm and yes i mostly listen to it but i dont mind putting in the 100 or so to get it just want to know if it is worth it what does it really do do you notice a drastic difference over the normal radio? again sorry for the questions just there is not much to read about this feature

  5. i have the bose 10.1 in my car with the 110 and the new headunit blows the stock one out of the water lol. Best part is 10.1 is still 100% functional The bypass is the easiest. The hardest part was making the custom connector so i wouldnt have to bypass my amp. Had to use the low outs on the pioneer and create a car adapter which encorporated rca's so i wouldnt blow speakers or the amp

  6. Where did you purchase your harness?

I looking for one but I would like to have the Z110 above the climate controls gauges, the reverse to your current setup.

Also did you lose the time for service indications on the dash when you removed the OEM radio?

    Ebay.

There's a reason why I mounted the radio on the bottom: I didn't want to cut up my dash & climate controls.

No. OBC works without the stock radio. But I did relocate the radio to the trunk to retain chimes and PDC.

You will have to excuse me if all my questions seem to be on the ignorant side, I am really not savvy when it comes to car tech but I am looking to become educated enough for when I take it into the installer shop and for personal maintenance going forward.

Can you please explain the not wanting to cut up the dash and climate control. I saw the Connect2 and Metra installation instructions for the double din with the navi on top and climate controls below. Besides the filing down of the edges of the climate control less than a 1/4 of an inch, I don't see anything in the instructions about cutting into the dash and the climate controls. Am I missing something or was that part not included in the documentation?

I've only had my car for a little over a month, what chimes are you referring to? And what's the PDC?

    Thanks for the responses.

The chimes he is referring to would be the seatbelt reminer chimes the warnign lights on the cluster and pdc is park distance control aka backup sensors

  7. For the OP i would like to know if you did the instal yourself or had it done somewhere. If you did it by yourself I would like to know how you bypassed the most system in the car? PLease let me know as i am very interested to know. But hey it looks amazing and clean.

I installed it myself. There's nothing to bypass. I just had to relocate the stock radio to the trunk to retain chimes and PDC.

OOO right that is correct my mistake the 3 series do not have a most in the radio i am thinking of the 5 series and 7 series oops lol. By putting the stock radio in the trunk i know you said you got it from ebay but everytime i look for the connectors on ebay i never find any were did you get the connectors from? Did you cut off the oem connector and extend all the wiring in to the trunk? sorry for all the questions

  8. 2) I set the steering wheel controls to track up/down. I'm accustomed to hitting those button for both presets and tracks, so I'm constantly hitting the button to skip to the next radio station. It seeks instead and I have to go to the radio screen and hit the button for preset up. I search through stations about every four minutes so it almost makes the NAV screen useless while listening to the radio. I'm going to have to change the mute button to a preset up button.

Thank you to everyone who contributes to this forum. It made the pioneer part of the installation a breeze.

Just a quick tip i had the same issues with the previous pioneers ive had and i was hoping theyd fixed that problem with this unit but unfortunatly my steering wheel controller had not arrived yet as i had an alpine before this Z unit. What i found with my other 2 pioneer units was if you hold up or down for like 1-2 seconds it will jump to your next preset in radio stations hold it to short it will seek hold it to long it will start to scan you have to get it JUST right lol. give that a try and see if it will work

  9. The only thing i still have to figure out is when i am making a phone call the music dimms down instead of shutting off. It goes down to a suitable level but id rather it shut off completely

SETTINGS, AV SETTINGS, MUTE LEVEL, set to ALL.

I was actually just reading the manual

thanks though i appreciate the help

  10. Hey everyone,

Being a huge pioneer fan i had 4 or 5 normal decks and 3 Double dinn units before i headed to the Z section. I started out with the N2 then the D3 then the F90bt. After owning the first 2 i listed I eagerly purchased the 90bt. Seing how long it was continuously being pushed back i figured it must be a good unit. Boy was i ever wrong It was nothing like the previous 2 units i had. I ended up getting so fed up with it and went over to the Alpine w505 with the additional blackbird 2 nav unit and later the cheaper version the nve-p1. Well that unit meh just didnt cut it but it was better then the pioneer. I was watching the reviews and feedback on the z110 unitsand being shakey if i wanted another pioneer unit I AM MORE THEN GLAD I CHOSE THIS UNIT. Being one of the higher priced units so be it the menus the navigation everything seems mazing about this deck. Ive had it installed for about 2 days with the bypass. The Ipod control what can i say so simple easy to use and you dont have to go through the menus to change the song. For the steering wheel controller i cannot put any input on it just yet i am still awaiting its arrival in the mail. The only thing i still have to figure out is when i am making a phone call the music dimms down instead of shutting off. It goes down to a suitable level but id rather it shut off completely

  11. does this rebate also apply for canada? I am receiving my unit in a few days and am eager to figure out

On a side note is this deck better then the f900bt? That deck was super dissapointing but i did like my n2 and d3 when i had them

  12. I have a ipod video and if i charge the battery via house charger it charges no problem and it holds a charge just when i plug it in to the car it does nothing. I will try getting another cable this time the real pioneer cable. When i got the unit the only thing available was the apple cables. same thing just opposed to being black it was white haha. If that doesnt work i may have to bring her in :(

Thanks for all of the input

  13. when it reads on the screen of the ipod "no power remains please connect power source" ipod then dies then the screen on the ipod states "please wait charging. It charges until the ipod has enough power to play about 20 seconds of a song and then it cuts out again because the battery is (pooched) drained. Before the update was applied it always charged the ipod completely and kept it charged. But still doesnt explain why my usb wont work
