I didn't do it. the shop where i got it installed did. it turns out it's not the VSS. its a pink wire that me and another friend who works at a differnet shop mistook for the VSS. I still dont quite understand it though. its a pink wire with a button on it and when the button isn't pushed the unit is bypassed but if i push it i get the THIS IS ILLEGAL message

are you having any problems with the camera being hit when you lower the tailgate? I have the same truck as you with the NDBC2 but I haven't installed it yet becasue everywhere, besides where the camera is sticking out for everyone who wants it to see gets in the way of the tailgate

would i just need to install the gps antenna and put the brain horizontal in the right position?

oh yeah, its a 2002 f150 supercrew. the brain is actually sitting upright right behind the panel in the middle of dash that touches the floor. it's very easily accessed, but not cabable of doing anything towards navigation.

well i'm going back tomorrow to get a backup camera installed, I do know that they are good at installing those. and I'd have to go back to get my GPS antenna anyway so I was planning on talking to them and trying to get it fixed but dont plan on it costing me hardly anything if anything at all.....i already paid for a navigation installed. if it does then ill do the reinstall myself. thanks for the help

sorry for all the questions the past few days, but i just had my unit installed and keep finding questions. But just today i went back to the shop who installed my n3 and found some things wrong. the nav disks are getting to me tomorrow so i havent been able to see anything with the navigation. well today I found out that I paid for a navigaton install, but they didn't install it, the gps antenna isnt anywhere in my truck, and my brain is in my truck upright completely disregarding all the messages saying make sure it's laying this way. also my vss in connected, but not to the vss port on

so i guess that takes quick additions to it pretty much out of the question. I do have another question though. I was planning on putting an xbox in the aux input. I got a power inverter and found a place to put the xbox but i wanted to be able to switch it out with, say, another console or something fairly quickly. with the brain in the dash this doesnt seem probable. is it conceivable to put an rca extension cable in the brain and then drill 3 holes for the wires somewhere in the dash for a quick trasition??? also where could i find the wires i would need?

where would the most likely place for a shop to mount an n3 brain in an 02 f150 supercrew be?? thanks

I just had my N3 installed yesterday. the switch was flipped but im not sure if they grounded the parking brake wire. I'm still able to watch a dvd while driving though. I think it's due to a switch under the dash that appears to be connected to the VSS wire. when I push it it says watching video is strictly prohibited or something like that. is this normal? I cant test the VSS becasue i dont have the nav disk but it looks like to check i'd have to have the disk and see if the VSS works without the switch on. also on an '02 f150 supercrew, where would be the normal install location of

I've had an N3 for a few weeks but I just got all my wires and everything in today. I want to test the unit but I'm not sure how. how do you test it in your house rather than hooking up to the car. (i dont plan on installing it until this weekend or early next week)

I have the cage and brackets as well. so it looks like the harness for my car, the power harness for the avic and the speaker harness too??

I just got an N3 in that I ordered from ebay. The only thing is all I got was the brain, HU, GPS wire, brain to navi wire, and the antenna wire. I need to know what other wiring harnesses I'm going to need to get before I install it. thanks for all the help.
