  1. The VSS hookup is not for speed per se, it's for dead reckoning. I used to have a stand-alone Garmin, which I loved, but it did not have dead reckoning. Sounds like the Kenwood doesn't either, which is kind of surprising these days. In case you're not familiar with it, dead reckoning uses a gyro and the speed input from the car to keep accurately routing even when you lose the satellite signal temporarily. My Z1, which I am seriously considering selling to get the Kenwood (I will never buy another Pioneer product after wasting money on the Z1), has that one advantage that it keeps routi
  2. 1. The DNX7100 is not connected to the VSS wire, the unit determines your speed via it's link to the satellite(S), yes that's plural.. the speed is usually of by .5mph See image at the time of this picture I had 10 sattelites I was recieving and sending my location too. 2. Depending on how fast you scroll around the map, it is fairly instant, but if you go fast, it can take a second or two.. It doesn't draw the map, it just all shows up at once if there is a lag.
  3. And guess what...The firmware updates are free...The map updates are about 75 bucks at most and you download them to a SD Card then load the updates to your nav unit and remove SD Card...Too cheap to buy a new card so I just use the card in my digi cam...Gotta love modern technology
  4. Actually the three beeps, etc....are from my Radar detector. after I uploaded and previewed the video I thought should put a disclaimer in there stating that was my radar detector HAHAHAHA...
  5. Here's the video for you on how switching from function to function works.. http://www.motionbox.com/video/player/1f9dd3bf1015e192
  6. Nope, I will take video of the switching from function to function....It's merely one button...I will try to get them up this evening.
  7. Finally got video up of the unit in action. You can find it here at this thread...If there's anything specific anyone wants to see, just send me a PM and I will work on getting it out. http://avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8516
  8. In order for me to test with the USB mode and connect a flash drive to the unit, I believe I would have to disconnect my Ipod they use the same connection port I believe and that would require me to pull my dash apart... BUT I will double check when I get home today and let you know.
  9. This is a new site for me when it comes to uploading videos too, so let's see how the link does. http://www.motionbox.com/filings?folder_id=1960072 If you have any questions or requests, feel free to ask. Look at the title of each and watch them in order !, 2, 3 also for some good stuff, watch video #2 all the way through.. Moe
  10. Happy...Hell yeah...Even the Boss said she likes this unit better than my eclipse unit I had in before. Trying to explain all it's features would be hard.. So if anyone knows of how I can get these DL'd to a site that will host my videos so that I can post them here, I would greatly be appreciative.
  11. I have several video files of the unit in operation...now my problem is this. I have taken and uploaded video to my computer and then to my photobucket account many times, but for some reason photobucket won't upload these videos so that I can post here... Anyone know of anymore sites that work like photobucket that I can upload the videos too so that I can post them here? I am stumped.
  12. That's correct, you download your own wallpapers to the unit
  13. Added my personal experience with MY DNX7100 to your post above....
  14. Video playback is awesome compared to my Eclipse unit I had....and I have a friend who has the Z1 and he says the only difference he sees in his unit and my unit is the hard drive, but he would be inclined to getthe Kenwood if he didn't already have his Z1...The NAV will tell me to turn left or right intohis driveway where as his just tells him you have arrived at you destination when he is within eyesight of his house... Still haven't gotten my car back, should be here by end of next week, I PROMISE to post video of all it's functions at that time. Note: the only thing you have to
