  1. My thought is that Pioneer didn't communicate with the public regarding their "safety setting" so no one knew what they were up to. Keep in mind, they just released the 'Droid-compatible AR2 just a few months ago and were pretty hush-hush to the public about it, except that it was "coming soon"...
  2. oooh, that would be sweet! I already have Torque and love it. Well worth the $$ and even better if it'll function on my AR2!
  3. From appradiodev.com: The AppRadio Developer Center is currently being finalized. Please email us your contact info and we will notify you as soon as the site is live. Thanks! lol, at least they're planning on it...
  4. One more for the list, from my daughter: the radio screen. First, the presets - I have more than one "list" of FM presets - make them scroll up & down. Next, the DCS button (or whatever it's labeled) to scan for local stations and change the presets. It's right above the volume buttons and a bit too easy to hit by accident. Tuck it away under an options screen somewhere; no one needs that on the main radio screen. Next is the information display above the radio frequency display. The song & artist words are too small to easily read, yet I can see the frequency numbers qu
  5. Oh yeah, that keyboard! I've gotten very good at Swype and don't need to load another one. A keyboard is a keyboard. Why do I *only* need Pioneer's?
  6. Who makes Activator? I did a quick search on the app store and couldn't find anything that described what you did.
  7. I'm going to guess that the app loaded on the Android or iWhatever sends a signal through the cable to activate the connection. The HU knows if nothing is connected to the cable, and it also knows when something is connected but not running the app. I think Pioneer still has some ways to go before this is a "killer app" - but at the same time, I doubt they'll create any kind of XBOX support. I'm thinking you'll have to put together something like the e-brake/toggle switch to figure it out.
  8. The map software is another poor design. The To: and From: text boxes take too much space on the screen, and you can't remove them if you just want to see the satellite image. It would also be good to remember the layers - I only want the satellite images and want the screen to center on me. Any time you touch the screen, you have to reset these options.
  9. Seem to recall reading that a developer needs to add some code that the AppRadio will read to make it work through the screen, so we probably need to send some emails to the developers to work with Pioneer to get the right code in the app. God, I hope google will work with them to get Latitude to work, and all the phone companies to do the same - these Pioneer apps suck!
  10. Just thought of another; the keyboard. When I get the message telling me I can't use the AppRadio screen for the keyboard, I have to grab my phone and use its keyboard. Why?! I should be able to perform every action on the AppRadio screen that I can with the phone. I can understand the 'Can't view video when the car is in motion' message, but other then that, let's have the same functionality...
  11. One thing that would be nice; if you turn the unit off, turn off the screen! You have to press the middle button to wake it up anyway, so you don't need the screen at all when you power it down.
  12. Mine shows it is charging, but the amount of power is so little that it must only supply enough power for the red LED showing it's getting juice!
  13. What I'd like to do is start a thread that (hopefully) Pioneer can use to make improvements to the apps on the A.R. I don't want to turn this into a bitch-fest, but helpful suggestions. Anyone up for it? I'll start; Car Media Player. First, a little background; I'm a single guy. It would be nice to do very little when I get in the car with my date to start playing music. Plug in the phone, hit a button and hear the music. Is this a tough process to design? As it is now, my date will think I'm some geek playing with his toys - OK, that's a bit true, but I have to look smooth, right?
  14. Just a quick follow-up; I tried connecting my phone to the kit without the power supply and it wouldn't work, so this tells me that the power supply is only to provide enough juice for the MHL adapter box. Even though the phone shows it's getting power, it must only be such a trivial amount that it does nothing for the phone. So since my phone only has one port, I've got no way to give it power when I'm driving and have it connected to the AppRadio at the same time - which sucks.
  15. Odd timing - look what I found: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/StaticFiles/PUSA/Files/Car-Firmware/SPH-DA100_AppRadio2-FW-Ver08.15_INSTRUCTIONS.pdf Update download for AppRadio 2: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/ephox/StaticFiles/PUSA/Files/Car-Firmware/SPH-DA100_AppRadio2-FW-Ver08.15.zip
  16. Think it's the cable that connects the iPod - that's got to be the only reason they created that cable configuration. If that's not it, then Pioneer has no one with a brain on their engineering staff!
  17. ... if you think it will power your phone. So I bought this little adapter so I could connect my EVO 3D to my AppRadio2 and have a nice, clean install. Turns out that my phone battery is pretty much dead after an hour or two of having it connected to the car. None of the information from Pioneer mentions the power stats, so I pulled apart the kit and took a multimeter to it. Turns out that it's only putting out 10.5 milliamps! My phone came with a charger that puts out 1 amp, so this thing is woefully underpowered. Is there ANY phone that only needs 10.5 milliamps?! Since you have to
  18. I just downloaded the update for the AppRadio app today and about to see what improvements they made. Have you done that already?
  19. Yeah, that's the premise for AppRadio - it doesn't need to be anything more than a radio tuner and amplifier, but fully leverages the technology in the iPhone or Android device.
  20. Pretty sure it's a standard HDMI input to the HU, so I guess so. You'd still have to deal with the hand brake issue.
  21. The built-in app isn't good. Most of the screen is taken up by the From/To address bars, the zoom buttons, etc. You have to constantly hit the 'center' button whenever you tap anything on the screen. Forget about looking up a contact to retreive their address; it'll hang and crap out on you. Pioneer really needs to hire some good Android programmers to fix all their apps - IMHO...
  22. The problem I have is that with the EVO 3d, the MHL port provides both power and HDMI. The Pioneer connector connects both the HDMI output from the radio and the AC power from the transformer and sends everything through one cable to the phone. Since the transformer comes with a 1A fuse, you'd think it woulud be close to it - but noooo . . . .
  23. It also appears that when the phone goes into power save mode, it won't connect to the radio SUCK
