  1. my 4500 suffers the same thing in the exact same areas I drive by each time. It is simply electrical interference, could be power lines in that area, cell towers, etc. etc. it got so bad for me, I turned the wifi off and only use Car Play by direct connection now

Yes, sorry, clipping was probably the wrong term, it is a loss of wireless signal.

This is what I suspect too... the road close to me that it always happens at literally runs alongside power lines.  Strange thing is I have overhead power lines all around me here and it doesn’t happen when I drive under some of the other ones.

How could they produce wireless tech that can be affected by power lines?!

then again, surely this would be happening to absolutely everyone using wireless CarPlay and not just some people?

Going to be testing shortly up that road disabling LTE etc to see if I can pin point what’s causing it.

it happened after one of Apple's recent updates, I never used to have a problem with my wireless connection dropping out, they have chosen to ignore the issue.

  3. I wasn't being snarky at all with my initial reply, you just didn't hear what you wanted to hear, I do not get what you aren't understanding here, there is no setting for start up volume, the volume will be what it was when you shut the vehicle off........PERIOD! in ALL media sources, not just Car Play. and I'll reiterate what I said in my first reply, be like the rest of us, and turn the volume down before shutting your vehicle off........................

  4. lol ok, news flash, if you leave the volume on 25 while listening to the radio, guess what happens? you guessed it........it will be at 25 when restarted, and guess what? same for any media source you may choose, HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CAR PLAY! was that helpful?

scott_O - it is good to know it is working on your system. Did you update to the 1.0.1 firmware?

I did yes, but I had no such issues before updating. I tried Apple maps today and it worked normally too, so all three navigation apps work for me, sorry you're having issues, maybe reset the unit.........

  6. Try this, plug your phone into usb 2. slid down the notifications menu. you should have one that says charging. press that. press connecting MIDI device.

    Does that Help?

Im not sure if the carrier matters, but before I discovered my issue was a usb cable extension, I tried that trick when I was having issues early on with my Sprint S7 Edge disconnecting, if I changed the usb setting to MTP or MIDI, it disconnected, my AA works 100% with the usb setting left at charging..........

  7. What usb cable is recommended

any good quality usb cable, preferably the one included with the phone, but as long as its not too long, any should be fine

Make sure you have the Android Auto app on the phone.  Launch it and THEN plug it in, it might ask you a question about permissions.

I've also hear that it doesn't work with all phones regardless of the OS

you shouldnt need to launch the AA app, even the first time, it should auto launch and ask for several permissions

  8. One last thing try entering navigation commands verbally, I did this on a trip tonight and the radio quit working and I had to unplug it.

    Thanks

sorry it took so long to get back to you, I just drove the car for the first time in a few days, I had no issue listening to the radio, pressing the steering wheel voice button, requesting navigate home, maps popped right up and started giving directions, radio then began playing again, did another test by pressing steering wheel button, sending a text, radio back on again. so no issues here. what phone and version of Android OS? Im using an S6 on 5.1.1, my S7 Edge is to arrive Wednesday, hopefully I have no hiccups........
