  1. I upgraded from the D3 to the x920BT. To answer some of your questions: 1. The Iphone 4 works better with this unit than the D3. You can transfer contacts. However, removing them seems impossible. People still say the sound is muffled on outgoing calls, but less so than on the D3. 2. Don't know. 3. I took out all of the old components so I could sell the D3 as a complete unit. I know the GPS antenna had a different connector. The old BT add-on unit you don't need, obviously as BT is now built-in the X920BT. I did re-use the Sirius and HD Radio tuners. I don't know if the wiring
  2. My iPhone is connecting as a bt audio device with Avic D3. I had to re pair the connection a couple times before it worked. I streamed Pandora through BT. Still no phone book transfer, as far as I can tell. Curiously, my other car (MB 350E) transferred the contact list automatically.
  3. Are there any in-dash cd changers, single or multi-disk, that will connect with the D3 through the IP bus and therefor be controlled via the D3 touchscreen, I have an extra double (or single) DIN dash opening available as I put the D3 in what used to be a storage bin on the top of the dash of my Subaru Forester. I would prefer an in-dash solution compared to an external changer such as the CDX-P680. If this won't work maybe I'll just put the CDX-P680 in the glove box. I found this older model: http://www.yonies.com/pidD.asp?chk=1&PID=1135
  4. My experience may help some. I have a 2004 Forester XT. I hired Circuit city to install my D3, they were having a special for free install so why not? Anyway, they would/could not install the VSS wire. Everything else was installed ok. I got info regarding the location of the VSS wire, as pin 10 of a 20 pin plug in the ECU. I took everything apart, did the bypass and found the ECU underneath the metal cover plate in the passenger footwell underneath the glove compartment. There I found three plugs, each with many wires, several of them the green/yellow color the VSS wire is supposed to
  5. I had my AvicD3 installed by Circuit City last week. They tried to install the VSS wire, but said it didn't work when they used the wire behind the instrument cluster their database pointed to. They also said they were reluctant to tapinto any wires underneath the glovebox, as they have had bad experiences with ruining the "control modules" located there. Can someone help me find the needed wire? It is for the XT (Turbo) model. Also, if I can find the wire, how do I know it is properly installed? Thank you.
  6. And so did I, thanks for the tip.
  7. I bought an AVIC D3 from CircuitCity last week along with the Sirius tuner and Ipod cable. However, they couldn't sell me the CD-BTB200 bluetooth adapter as it is out of stock, and their computer shows that they won't be getting any more in. Also out of stock at Crutchfield's, Newegg and Comp-U-plus. Has it been discontinued? Circuitcity was offering free installation so I am waiting for the bluetooth adapter before installing the D3.
  8. It's a 2004 Subaru Forester XT. It has a double DIN dash opening. There is already installed an aftermarket amplifier and the speakers were replaced. The D3 should fit fine without an adapter.
  9. I put the last Kenwood CD head unit in myself but with the subaru-specific wiring harness, it was easy. I want the D3 plus sirius and Bluetooth modules. As far as I have been able to determine, this will require wiring power sources to the modules as well as routing two antennae and wiring to some extra sources such as reverse gear wires, brake wires and VSS wires, none of which I know even where they are. Circuit city will do the whole thing but they want $250 labor. Maybe it's worth it? Thanks for any advice.
