  1. Is there a way to manually detour around traffic? I know that when I am in an area with NavTraffic and there is traffic ahead it asks me if I want to detour around it? But many times I am not in a coverage area, or an accident happened and the incident report is not relayed.

  2. I have the VX6700, check the phone numbers, if you transfer it from the phone to the Z2 I believe it carries the 1 before the area code, and the Z2 does not recognize that. I had to remove the 1 and completely match up the phone number input such as - between the series of numbers, ie xxx-xxx-xxxx, or just xxxxxxxxxx. It has been a while since I transfered mine, but I will check again.

  3. I have been trying to think and look around myself to connect my XV6700 phone from Verizon to my Z2 via A/V cables. If this would be possible then I would also be able to have the internet on the Z2 but more importantly I would be able to have Slingbox on the Z2 and be able to watch TV. This would solve that whole 2009 DTV thing and no DTV tuners from pioneer yet problem. Any suggestions?

  4. Yea, I have Geico, and for a few extra bucks a month, I have the Z2 insured on an add on. It came in handy, because someone did steal my Z1, and all it cost me was 50 bucks, to get the entire unit, add ons, installation and front dash replaced. Even got the check in hand the next day.

  5. 1. There isn't a dtv tuner for the car, I don't know if there will be one.

    2. None that incorporate into the avic. There are a few hardwire systems availible.

What kind of hardwire systems. and if the TV turners turn dirt cheap, might be fun for 1-2 months.

  6. I have a couple questions, hope you don't they may be off topic. I have a Z2 and wanted to get the a TV tuner for it, but after reading some posts, and knowing about the DTV thing in 2009, does anyone know if there are any already DTV auto tuners out there, and if Pioneer has one or is planning to come out with one?

    2) Radar/Laser detectors. Anyone know if any may work with the Z2? or does anyone recommend one that is a concealed unit? I don't like things on my dash or window :-).

    Thanks in advance.

  7. okay, So I investigated a little more, the 3 wires are such. 1 cut wire which I found that to be the video, it had the ground and the video wire twisted together, but when I stripped it a further I saw fresh wire, and re-connected a RCA jack and it worked.

#2 wire- long 2-3 foot stereo right angled jack

    #3 wire mini male connector

Anyone know what the #2 and #3 wire are, right now they are not connected.

Also when I put the car in reverse the image is there, but when I put the map mode in rear mode to watch the trailer and such, there is not image. Any suggestions on that.

    Thanks

  8. Hi, I finally replaced my stolen Z1 with a Z2 and this time I installed it myself. Heck all the hard work was done, just needed to reconnect wires. But I do have a question about my review camera. I do not have the model number, but when the unit was stolen 1 of 3 wires were cut and I have no idea what it is for. So, I have 3 wires coming from the rear camera.

    1) the cut stranded wire ( i believe this is video)

    2) a what appears to be a mini stereo jack or ear phone jack

    3) i can not recall, but it was not cut

The reason why I believe #1 was video because I am missing a RCA video jack for the video input, but before I go and attach a new plug I just wanted to see what you guys thought or knew what the 3 wires are if that is standard for a rear camera?

    Thanks in advance,

    Howard

  9. Does anyone know the polarity of the cell mute wire? Only asking because would it be possible to hook it up to a open/close window modular, so when you are driving with the windows open and a call comes in, all you have to do is press mute to close the windows? Also just wondering because my alarm has it as an add on feature and was thinking about tapping into it? If this is possible then I would need to use a different wire for the 2nd ground.

  10. Ok! Stupid question... well like they say there are no stupid questions only stupid people. :-)

First Thank you to everyone that has made this possible. Now to my stupid question. I am not able to download the file. I go to the link to megaupload and it shows the file on the bottom but no where to download it. Do I have to register for the site first?

  11. Hi there, I am long time reader and once a Z1 owner, before someone ripped it out of my truck. Since then I have moved, beefed up my alarm system and got a garage. I have been putting off buying a new Z2, waiting to hear more about if a by-pass is possible. My question is, with this latest information would be be better to try to find an old Z1 and have it by-passed and not upgrade it to the Z2, not caring about the new enhanced features? Honestly, the 2 short months that I did have the Z1, everything worked fine with me. So is it worth to buy the Z1, wait for the Z3 update to come out and upgrade it then? Thanks.

  12. So let me get this straight. It is possible to place the GPS and the XM antenni under the dash and get a strong enough signal to work? My problem is that I did have a Z1 when it first came out and a couple of months later it was stolen. Since then I have moved and the new Z2 has come out which I should be getting within the month. Previously the antenni were placed on each side of the dash, but I thought it brought too much attention to the gear inside, so really never truly liked that placement. I was thinking of running both antenni to the roof and having it out of sight, but erked at the trouble of running the wires to the roof. But now you guys are saying that it can be mounted under the dash...? That would be great. DB did you tach or weld the metal plate? Can you place both antenni on the same plate? Man, this just opened a whole new thought process.

Thanks, you are guys are the greatest.

  13. one idea was to wire my car adapter for the PPC to a free DC plug in my truck and have it on all times, but you are right, that might be too much of a strain on the car bat. I am just not sure of how I am able to have one or multiple wired or wifi cameras connected to the PPC. It is one of the original HP PPC with no internal connections built in, (i.e. wifi). I would hace to puchase a Compact flash adapter if I want to add WiFI to it. But if I do that, I how can I connect the cameras to the PPC and then eventually have them sent via internet to a remote locations?
  14. Well, this is my goal! I want to free up my old HP Jorando 565 by getting a new PPC and phone combo. I would like to install a few wired or wireless cames in my truck in hidden spots and have the PPC stored in a well or so with constant power and retrieving images from the cameras. At this point I would settle with the images being captured to be stored on the PPC 2 gig compact flash card, but I would prefer using my old cell phone and create a data connection to the PPC to be able to upload to my in house server or to be able to view live video via my new PPC and phone combo!! Does anyone know how or if this is possible and have any suggestions on how to do it. If so please send my way!! Thanks alot!!
  15. Maca, That is my next serious step. I have looked into PPC with CCTV and even infra-red CCTV. I am going to free up a PPC soon, and would like to use that. Can you give me an idea of how you set up your computer for this task. It won't be my main security feature but it may be easier to know when it is happened rather than it already happened. Some of the software and hardware can broadcast live images to a PPC, I can only imagine it will need a server, and an ISP within the truck or wi-fi! I would rather hook up an ISP and not hope to park in a Wi-Fi since they are not that common where I live. Can you give me a direction on how to get started. Thanks!!
