  1. Exactly! A friend of mine suggested the same idea earlier today. To verify, I put the old radio back and mesuared voltage at the radio output. Bingo! ~14V The hard part is over. Now, on to getting a correct adapter, which turns out to be Metra 40-vw54. Why didn't I get this in the first place?! I appreciate your help, action. I was getting so frustrated after spending several days trying do figure this out.
  2. Hi! I installed Z2 in my 2001 Audi S4. But there is no radio. It looks like the radio signal is not coming through the car's antenna system. I know that the Z2's radio is working because when I am in the city where the signal is strong, I receive radio, but as soon as I go away from the city for a few miles, the radio is gone. And, if I just stick a piece of wire in place of the antenna plug, I get the radio. The Z2 manual says that if I have a rear window antenna I should connect the unit's power antenna lead to the car's antenna amplifier. I believe I found one in my car on the left D-P

    Security code?

Is there a security code that can be enabled in z2 that you must enter every time power to the unit is lost? Like OEM radios. I didn't find anything related to this in the manual.
  4. I see. I had a chance to try another unit in my car yesterday. Same thing. The ring was a little louder this time, but still did not allow volume adjustments. I guess this issue is minor, inconvenient, but still tolarable. If I come across a solution, that's fine, but for now it's not worth the trouble as long as the rest of the system is working.
  5. Correction: The phone ring does come from the speakers. The sound is very weak. And it does not respond to the volume level adjustments in the settings. No matter what the level is, max or none, you can barely hear it. Any thoughts, please?
  6. Not sure, but maybe you are right, and it is a wiring problem. I have a 2001 Audi S4 with Bose. I did use the specific Metra harness and it said that with Bose I have to connect the front and rear speakers through the RCA cables on the harness only, and that's what I did. It works because the sound comes out from all speakers, but not the phone ring. I am going to mess around with it more. BTW, to where do you usually hook up the amp. turn on? I hooked mine to the Remote Control lead of the Z2. Before it was on ACC. If onyone knows, are there any specifics on wiring Z2 with the B
  7. I did hear the ring, which was very faint, today after I maxed out the Phone Ring volume in settings. However the ring came not from the car speakers, but from the Z2 unit itself. Is this how it's supposed to be?
  8. I did that already. The volume levels are set appropriately. I am going to play around with the settings again tomorrow, and see what happens. Thanks, ducatiboy
  9. Just installed Z2 this weekend with Bluetooth and iPod adapters. However, when I receive a phone call, there is no notification ring, just a popup message on the screen. Looked through the manual but didn't find anything helpful. Has anyone had this problem? Thanks for any help
