  1. Thanks. Its the optional remote that controls the Z1. Works well on the DVD without going into the menus.
  2. Dang, the guy must of blew one of your fuses. The fuse locations are in the drivers kick panel, engine compartment, and there is a hidden location in the passenger side wiper crawl. most likey, the one that is blown is in the wiper crawl area. Everything is hooked up there. Its a big smart distribution block to prevent accidental battery drainage. There are so many hidden fuses there i couldn't believe it. The pics should show now.
  3. I wired my Z1 straight to the High outputs, It worked! But unfortionatly it was way too loud. I went to 3 and it was blastin' at max sound and there was also a hissing sound everytime it beeped. So i installed an inline adjuster into the speaker wires and now its fine. I use it at volume 8-10 and DVD is loud. I grounded my bypass and the unit to the side radio bracket and ran a bigger wire to the frame of the car. t0m4t0, Your car's parking lights don't work or your radio?
  4. I bought my unit in Sept. 06 and it was manufactured July 06. My brothers unit is June 06 and bought the same time but it has not froze.
  5. I've had $200 radios and lots of other cheap ones that lasted way, way longer than my Z1. Our Z1's are practically new!
  6. man that sucks. The other day I was listening to a song in the Libary and it froze on a song for like 10 secs then skipped to the next one. It played for a while then froze again. Then finally played. Although the boot screen still hasent froze, I'm begining to get worried now.
  7. thanks, i'll try that then. I was afraid it would blow the amp because of the high output.
  8. most ot the DVDs i watch is at max or somewhere at around 35. max volume is 42, i think. Theres good volume output at max. I have to adjust the DVD sorce volume compensation at max too. Normal music listening is at 15-20. My brother's G35 also has the z1 and bose. its the same sound as my 350z. I was doing some research and i think I either have to buy a PAC AOEM wiring conector w/ output adjustments or a new amp that is capable of 2amp Bose speakers. I currently have the Metra kit RCA setup.
  9. It sounds like you have to reset everything in your "3D calibration status." I think its in the harware menu. It happended to me when i took my Z1 back out to check for something.
  10. Sometimes I use NERO quickly burn youtube videos on a CD using the VCD or SVCD option formats. that works. For DVDs use a program called "easy AVI to DVD" The only thing is, it works off of all AVI and DIVx so you also have to convert mpegs to AVI. If they're only music vids just use nero and pick the svcd format in the CD menu and do that. Its easier. You have to use a CD not a DVD.
  11. Has anyone found a way to turn up the Nav volume or bluetooth volume past its max. I have it all the way up but when the top is down on the car, the Nav lady gets drowned out and I can hardly hear anything. Turning up the radio volume does nothing to the guidence either.
  12. Did you check the power wire with a volt meter? I accidently shorted mine to ground and i checked all the fuses. but it took me over an hour to find out my car had a third fuse for the radio hidden underneath the wiper crawl area for an anti-battey drain protection.
  13. Goodluck. hey look at what I just stumbled upon. It would help if these topics were combined. Method 4 reset worked for someone else too. read mrhappi's post, page 2. http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3111&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15 I wonder if it has anything to do with ripping burned CDs to the HDD. What if the burned CD had an error but still playable and that error transfered to the drive? I mostly used burn ones.
  14. I don't really know how it restores it but I'm guessing it just erases the data that wasn't factory installed and the corrupted files came from either the music or user inputed map points or data. oh the restore is on page 175-178 of the manual. Its the Method 4. Method 1, 2, and 3 didn't work for the people who tried so I did the Method 4: complete restore.
  15. The only thing that sucks is that the volume level is too low, i think, especially when the DVD is playing.
