  1. Been lurking the forums for awhile. No serious complaints about my appradio but is there some way to make a simple request of Pioneer for future media player updates. I would like them to put the time in the corner somewhere so I can see it while playing songs through the media player. I could of sworn we had that before the whole iPhone 5 thing came along but I could be wrong. I only had my appradio a couple of weeks before I got my 5.

Apparently the AR3 shows the time when you hit the volume a couple times. We AR2 users just need to hope and pray we get an update.

  2. I hear ya. I had the AR3 for a week (returned due to hardware issues) and the software update was def nice. a few little tweaks like the clock showing up when you hit the volume up was nice. The overall software is snappier too. No lag at all. I hope they release one too but they may not because the sph-da110 is pretty much the appradio 2 with new software, and from a business stand point it doesnt make sense to release an update for an older model when they are trying to sell "new" hardware for more money. At the end of the day its all about revenue.

Then that is bad business practice on their end. Yes make revenue. But you need to keep your customer base happy. I only bought this, not even a year ago. There should be quarterly updates, and new apps that work with it all the time. Why the hell would they expect someone who JUST bought an AR2, to run out and buy the exact same thing that has new software?!

  3. From what I read, the 8.30 update (any version of appradio) for Europe doesn't have Pandora. The USA version does...You probably installed the American version. I also read that you can overwrite the US version with the European version but you can't go back untill Pioneer offers another newer update.

Ok, thanks! I did install the american version. The Canadian website was always behind in being updated. Maybe tonight I will try the 8.30 update from the Canadian site, and see what happens.

I am really hoping they have an update soon. I also really hope they are not going to leave us AR2 users in the dark. I am fairly certain the hardware inside the 3 is the same as 2, so why can't we have BT streaming and Siri Eyes Free? Pioneer is really slacking in adding apps too, or getting companies to make their apps compatible.

  4. Hey folks, So i was just reading that with the 8.30 update I did when it was first released should have removed Pandora from the main screen? Now did i read this wrong?

I have seen multiple videos of people with AR2 and Pandora is NOT there.. Was wondering what was up? I have never used Pandora due to it not being available here in the Great White North(Canada)

    Thanks!

  5. KWS, I think you solved it!  I have the factory Infiniti amp in my Durango, and I am using a PAC (Pacific Accessory Corporation) RP4-CH11 interface to connect the AppRadio to it.  I dug out the instructions for the interface and found this:

"Vehicles with a factory amplifier: The factory amplifier only accepts two channels of audio input (left and right). Connect the front outputs of the aftermarket radio to the rear inputs of the vehicle connector. This will allow navigation voice prompts and Bluetooth calls to be heard. The rear speaker outputs of the aftermarket radio are not used. Fading is not supported in this application. The factory amplifier’s fading is controlled by data communication from the factory radio. Neither the aftermarket radio or the RP interface have the ability to control the amplifier’s fader."

That is not how I am wired right now.  With both of the AppRadios I have had both front and rear speaker wires connected to the interface.  I'll pop it out tonight,  switch that around and report back.  I am finally optimistic!!

I knew it! couldnt have been the head unit! Hope this fixes it for you, sir!

  6. Except that I have tried three different phones and gotten the same results with all of them!  Two iPhone 5s and one iPhone 4 all do the same thing.  There is definitely some kind of compatibility issue here.  I'm running out of things to try.  I am thinking maybe next deleting all the other Bluetooth pairings on the iPhone?  or maybe Reset Settings on the iPhone?

You also said this issue occured with an AR2 and an AR3. I think it has something to do with your amp/speakers not the head unit.

Remove all other pairings, and reset the phone by holding the power and home button down until the power off screen goes black and keep holding until the apple logo shows up, then you can stop.

  7. Thanks for the suggestion.  All of the speakers are working properly for every other source: FM radio, Pandora, other apps (including car media player) and even Bluetooth Streaming.

The low volume problem is *only* an issue with phone calls.  it seems to be something about the way that the appradio and the iPhone are interacting specific to the Bluetooth Hands Free profile.

There must be another issue, it can't be with the head unit considering you switched it out. I have an iPhone 4s and it works perfectly.

Are you using stock speakers in your car, is there an amp? and did you do the test with changing the fade/balance. Sometimes it may seem like all speakers are working until you do that. then you'll find one thats out.

  8. OK, this is driving me *crazy*.  I swapped my recently purchased AppRadio 2 for a brand new AppRadio 3 (Crutchfield is awesome, by the way...) and I still can't get any volume out of the bluetooth handsfree phone calling feature.

Everything pairs correctly.  Bluetooth audio  streaming for music and controls also work perfectly.  Absolutely *everything* works except being able to hear the person who is on the other end of a phone call.  Even with the volume at "40" it sounds like a distant whisper.  They can hear my voice over the microphone just fine.

I have tried 3 different iPhones (two iPhone 5s and one iPhone 4) and they all behave exactly the same way.  It is blowing my mind that three different iPhones don't work with this feature on two completely different AppRadios.  How could that be possible?  It's acting like there's a complete incompatibility.  Surely Pioneer tested the phone call feature with iPhone and I can't find anyone else who has this same complaint.

    So bizarre!

Does anyone have any ideas before I start in with Pioneer telephone technical support and see if they can figure it out?

If it has done with two different head units, and multiple phones. I would say your issue is with your speaker wiring, or the speakers themselves. I can barely have the Bluetooth Call Volume above 12, after that it is TOO loud.

I don't know if you installed the units yourself, but you may want a professional to check it out for you if that is the case.

But a test you could do is to go into your Fade/Balance options and just have the radio or iPod going and play around with going to left rear, right rear, left front, right front, and see if all speakers are working properly.

  9. I'm in Canada, Futureshop just got them in yesterday

I don't see anything in the settings about changing the App connection setting

(I managed to find the setting, you need to change the App setting from iPhone AV to OTHER), works fine now..

One thing I noticed though, when I connected an iPhone to either DA100 or DA110, I'm able to use google maps from my phone via the deck in app mode... with the GS3, you need to install the included GPS antenna, otherwise maps says the location is temporarily unavailable.. weird

I too am in Canada. Did the AR3 come with ANY cables for any kind of phone? iphone or android?

  10. I understand what he means.

They fix this with the AppRadio 3 (and hopefully a future firmware update to the appradio 2). The unit in its current form does not support bluetooth streaming. With bluetooth streaming comes the ability to differentiate bluetooth signals, IE the difference between a phone call and a voice command. Currently whenever any voice command system activates on your appradio, the appradio thinks it is a phone call because it doesn't support anything else besides calls through bluetooth audio.

Now with the updated firmware that the DA-110 has you will gain the ability to use siri in your car without having this problem. In fact pioneer actually supports Apple's "siri eyes free" system. It remains to be seen if these upgrades will come to the appradio 2. From what I have been told the appradio 2 is actually the same exact hardware as the DA-110 so it would just take a software/firmware upgrade to enable this functionality.

Pioneer don't screw this up. Keep your users happy.

I have tweeted, and left comments on Pioneers Facebook page, and they keep skirting the issue. I have a feeling we AR2 users are now nobodies. They will not answer any questions about an update allowing us to have the functionality of the AR3. I have gone and done a little more reasearch to find out that the AR3 does not come with ANY connection cables. That's right. NONE. I wanted to sell my AR2 and get the AR3 so i can stop waiting for the update. But then saw that the 3 does not come with any kind of connection cables for a phone. So no point in selling mine if i am going to screw the next guy getting it with no cables... This is a real piss off.

  11. Ok, So early this evening, Pioneer Electronics announced the long anticipated update was here! Ready for download, instructions and all. Allowing full use of the iPhone 5, with this update and a 120 dollar cable.

Luckily, I have the iPhone 4S, right?

    No.

I completed the two stage update, looking forward to hopefully some bug fixes. I plug my phone is and, nothing. the phone made its chime to say it was loading. But no beep or reaction from the AppRadio.

So I unplug it, and try the bluetooth. After a few unsuccessful tries, it finally worked. So I have one connection. But as i was trying the phone functionality, I found that when i click on my contact list, or last/missed calls. The lists show up for two seconds, and then disappear.

I try the phone connection again, phone chimes for charging, and nothing from the radio. In the settings menu there is a new option. AppRadio connections. When you click here, it opens a page telling you to disconnect your device, turn its bluetooth off. and then to download their new app! CarMediaPlayer.

I did this, and tried again. No luck. No connectivity. The bluetooth connection takes a long time to connect now.

Why oh why did I update so soon. Pioneer really must have their heads waaay up their asses. If they don't fix this very quickly, i am stuck with an AM/FM radio.
