ok, so it only took me 9 months, but I finally got it installed this weekend. Found a guy on craigslist that would come out to the house and he spent 7 hours here on Saturday installing it and he did a pretty good job. I installed an adapter so I could use my steering wheel controls and upgraded the xm receiver to the navtraffic tuner and it looks 10x better than my old one. I also connected a CDI200, but figured out that doesn't work, so I got a USB adapter coming from crutchfield and will hook that up when it gets here tomorrow. I've attached some photos, and I have to say, after you

Just wanted to let everyone know what a pleasure it was doing business with Garret for the Hard drive upgrades I ordered the 60GB HD with the Z3 upgrade and I got it in 3 days. It took me a total of 3 minutes to do the upgrade (not including the 2-3 minutes it takes to load the software). He even sends you the driver!!! I sent him about 2-3 emails before ordering and 1 about a month after ordering and he answered in like an hour, on a Sunday!! It boots up and responds much faster than the Z1. The icons on XM are pretty cool!!!

I live in purcellville, va and I'm trying to find a place to get my Z1 installed in my 2006 Honda accord. I used to have it in my 96 Ford explorer, but removed it myself. I had a shop in Sterling, VA install it in my Ford, but they charged an arm and a leg. I already have the bracket for installing it in the lower space, I just need the expertise!!!!

thanks for the info, I'm ordering the part now. I'm just getting back to this project, I'll keep you posted. fyi: if this is my 3rd entry, I keep getting asked for my login when I try to submit, so I know I'm gonna have 3 replies here tomorrow morning.

that really really sucks. I looked all over for vehicles that my Z1 would fit into and I was almost positive that it would fit into a honda...I guess I'm gonna have to look into putting it into the space at the bottom. After driving around for the past 3 days without it, and I can't stand it!!!!

I wonder if I went to the honda dealer and asked for the trim piece around the navi head unit, they would sell that to me? I priced the honda oem nav unit on ebay for 799. I already have the Z1 which I paid 1,800 for two years ago, so don't really want to fork over that much cash.

will the z1 fit into this dash on a 2006 accord? If so, what kit do I need. I've looked on ebay and didn't find one.

FIXED!! Speakers cutting out whenever I hit a bump
meb9796 replied to meb9796's topic in Problems/Troubleshooting
When I was putting my radio back in my truck I noticed a bare wire way in the back. I traced it because it was black and noticed that the tape that was wrapped around it had slid down and exposed a 2" section of wire. It was also laying up against one of the metal braces for the radio. So I moved it away and WA-LA!! The radio sounds better than it has in long time! I taped it up and drove it around some and so far so good! I've noticed some others have had the same problem with their speakers. I hope this helps!!! It took me 3 times of looking to actually find the bare wire due -
About a month ago both my left speakers in my 02 Ford Expl sport, started cutting out whenever I'd hit a bump. The volume would either go real low or they'd cut out all together. Then a week ago, my right speakers started doing the same thing. I've had the Z1 in over a year now, so I tried to take it back to the professional shop that installed it, but they had a month waiting list, so I managed to get into best buy and asked them to troubleshoot it. They said the voice coils were going on the stock speakers so I should replace them. I did (yeh yeh I know, but who doesn't want new speaker

About a month ago I noticed that my left speakers were cutting out (going real low actually) whenever I'd hit a large bump and then they'd come back on when I'd hit another bump. I haven't got around to troubleshooting that yet, but yesterday I noticed that the backlight on my GPS screen was going from 'daylight' to 'night' background whenever I'd hit a bump?? WTF?? Yes I live in the boonies, so this is a problem. I did pull out the unit and checked the main connector and didn't see anything loose and couldn't replicate the speakers cutting out by tugging on different wires. Anyone have a

When I've disconnected my battery to do other work, sometime my Z1 will boot up slowly until I reset it. Unfortunately I don't have the bluetooth module, so I can't tell you if you'll loose all your contacts. I know I didn't loose my radio and xm presets if that helps. Good luck

In-line fuse size for the Terk xm direct adapter??
meb9796 replied to meb9796's topic in Problems/Troubleshooting
sorry, I was wondering if they made 7.5 amp agc fuses. I know they make them for atm, and think that is what the terk guy was talking about. -
In-line fuse size for the Terk xm direct adapter??

installthis06 and cntrylvr79, thanks for responding!!! IT'S WORKING!!! When I started up my truck after submitting my last post, XM was working fine. I've turned my truck off and on 5 times since then with no problems. installthis06: I measured 12v before the fuse, but that is where the problem was. The in-line fuse holder came apart and the fuse fell out. I installed a 2amp fuse, and E-taped the fuse holder together for a temp fix. I'll get another in-line fuse holder this weekend and put everything together properly. I also got an e-mail from Terk saying that I should use a -
In-line fuse size for the Terk xm direct adapter??
meb9796 replied to meb9796's topic in Problems/Troubleshooting
Ok,I called Terk at 0900 this morning and they said to install a '5 amp' fuse before I even told him what model I had? So I picked up both a 2 amp and a 5 amp fuse, figured I'd try the 2amp first and if that blew, I'd try the 5 amp. Well, the more I thought about it, I decided to call Terk back and ask them again (hoping I'd get a different person). Well, I got a different person, and I also got a different answer. This time they said 7.5 amp fuse?? I'm assuming he was confused and thought I was talking about atm fuses because they don't even make 7.5 agc fuses that I'm aware of.
