  1. Had my Z2 stolen from my truck and purchased a refurbished Z2 as a replacement. I had a different installer who also installed an alarm system with remote start. The navigation isn't working either. Now that you have some background, he put in the bypass but in the connection status, I get:

    GPS: ok, but no satellites

Emergency brake: On when it isn't

in the vehicle dynamics screen speed and rpm are unavailable.

I'm thinking a problem with VSS wire, Any suggestions?

  2. I'm having trouble, I think i may be CD burning retarded.

I downloaded the file titled "Z2Bypassupdate.iso"

loaded a blank CD in my drive, told windows to burn it,

took the CD out to the truck, put it in,

    Z2 says "CD-Rom inserted"

I press Map, and it goes to the map.

    nothing about an update.

so I think maybe its the windows burning program.

unfortunately my Nero free trial ran out,

so I downloaded CDBurnerXP Pro, and burned it to a disk with that.

    still get the same results.

I tried a third time, this time telling it to "close" the CD,

still get the exact same results on the Z2.

anybody have any ideas where I am going wrong?

    Bigred-

I had the same problem, it took 3 CD's before I got the image onto a good disk. At least I think it was the disk. I used ROXIO to burn and the last time I remember it referring to burning the "image" to the disk. After that, I followed Hyperite's directions and it went without a hitch. I'm not a techie, but have ripped CD's before. My theory is your software has to recognize the file as an image. Good Luck! Stan

  3. I just did thye update from Hyperite's download and instructions. My Z2 is an Apr 07 build. Can't remember if my software was Version 1. but now it's reading Ver 2. However, I couldn't tell if it updated or not because it never said one way or the other. After I inserted, it said CD-ROM inserted and nothing else. Checked Service Info in Settings and now says Ver 2.

I don't have the 2-wire installed yet, so can't say it's bypassed. :? Any comments?

I think you skipped step 3 of my instructions :)

Ok guys, I got it updated. I had to go through 3 CD-R's to get the update to take but finally "got 'er done!" Now just need to do the 2-wire and I'm set. Thanks again!! You guys Rock!! 8)

  4. To those of you that have successfully updated yours, did you have a previously unlocked drive? I'm looking for someone that has a stock Z2 that was able to successfully update theirs...

    Thanks,

    Dave

Did you hit map, and answer yes to the update question? It goes through some gyrations that take about 10 minutes. if you didn't see that, it's not updated (yet).

Ok, then I guess it's back outside. Thanks Dave!

    -------------------METHOD 2 (assed out easy)------------------

    CDROM ISO!!!!

    1. Download this 30MB file: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4T5MBJL7

    2. Burn to CD or DVD.

    3. Insert in Z2, press Map, and run the update!

    4. Press the recessed reset button once, and your Z2 is now 2-wire bypassable.

This is for Z2 UNITS ONLY!!!! This will not upgrade your Z1, and actually might leave it unusable, as it relies on some firmware that isn't installed. Turns out the update disc was pretty easy to cut down to just the files needed to update for the bypass.

    Enjoy!

Hyperite- Thanks for your help, was there anything else on the update disc relevant to Z2s?

Nope, this is all you need...

    Thank you , Sir
