  1. I have an AVIC-Z1. When I first got it I was able to pair it with my Verizon Treo 700P in about two minutes. It worked beautifully. I found someone on this forum to send me a disk with the AVIC-Z2 image on it. I installed the new disk and booted into AVIC-Z2. That also works beautifully. But when I went to repair with my Verizon Treo 700P again, it no longer pairs. My friend had a different kind of phone (not sure what model) and it also will not pair. I'm confident that my hardware is installed properly because the blue tooth worked okay with the AVIC-Z1 firmware. There is some
  2. Tommy, I believe that it is possible to connect your Avic-Z1 disk drive to your laptop, but it wouldn't be too easy. You'd have to: 1. Adapt the 2.5" disk drive to a 3.5" form factor with a small adapter. You can buy that adapter at Fry's electronics or Radio Shack. 2. Purchase an external enclosure that will convert a 3.5" Parallel ATA drive to USB. 3. Unlock your disk drive. Search for unlock in the avic411 forum to learn more about that. You'll have to purchase an unlock code. 4. Plug the USB cable into your laptop. From what I've read, you can't just move .m
  3. I bought an AVIC-Z1 with the plan to have it installed in my 2000 BMW 328I. I bought the kit to relocate the temperature controls to a storage space below http://www.mybimmer.net/howtos.htm. I bought a double din bezel http://mybimmer.net/doubledintrim.htm for my BMW E46. But when I went to see my installer, he claims that the AVIC-Z1 won't fit into the BMW 328I. He says it will stick out. It seems like it should fit, since the pics on this site http://mybimmer.net/doubledintrim.htm show the AVIC-Z1 installed in the BMW. But if my installer doesn't think it can be installed, t
  4. Sounds good. If you got a chance to take a pic of it and post it here that would be cool. Patrick
  5. Thanks for the replies. I'll investigate further and post more info here if I learn more.
  6. I just bought a new AVIC-Z1 and I am going to have it installed. I bought the Ipod interface adapter CD-IB100II and I plan to have it installed in the glove box of my BMW 328I. I was also thinking it might be a good idea to run the auxilary input cables into the glovebox. If I then buy and connect up the Applie Ipod AV cable http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/W ... m=M9765G/B (or equivalent) I would be able to watch Ipod video on my AVIC-Z1. I understand that I would have to control the video from the Ipod itself. I would still leave the CD-IB100II connected so that the Ipod is al
  7. I just bought a new (well, refurbished) AVIC-Z1 and I am going to have it installed soon. Any suggestions where the microphone should be installed so that it is unobstrusive yet effective? I have a BMW 328i (MY 2000). Thanks. Patrick
  8. Does anybody know if the AVIC-Z2 supports an HD radio add in module? I want HD radio, and am considering the Pioneer AVIC-Z2 instead of the Kenwood DNX7100. But I can't find any information about the AVIC-Z2 supporting HD radio. If the AVIC-Z2 does not support HD radio, any idea if it will (or the AVIC-Z3) in the future? If so I will wait for HD radio support before I buy it. Thanks in advance.
