1. It has nothing to do with reception. You either get it or you don't.
2. Not even close to FM. It doubt it's a bad tuner/antenna - it sounds this way to me in every car. I've listened to XM in the TSX and Passat and FM in those cars sounds way better than XM.
3. Right. Why isn't it at least on par with FM? I have no complaints about the FM quality.
4. I have a GEX-P10XMT hooked up to an AVIC-D2 and the quality of my XM sound is far worse than FM. I thought it was digital? Shouldn't it sound better than FM? The sound is very flat and sounds like its coming out of a tin can. Also, I find that I have to turn the volume much higher to be at the same level as any FM station.
5. Any bars/waves/spikes that move with the music?
6. For the people that mounted their antennas in the rear of the car- isn't the cable too short? how did you extend it?
7.
Is the pbus cable plugged in to the bllue port or the black port of the xm tuner. It should be plugged into the black port of the xm tuner.
That was exactly it. Thanks a bunch.
8. Just installed my AVIC-D2 and GEX-P10XMT XM tuner and activated service for both XM and Navtraffic. Navtraffic works just fine but no audio from any of the XM channels. I am able to scroll through all the channels, again no sound. Everything else on the D2 works- FM, CD, Navi. IP Bus cable was plugged in. I called XM to send and resend the signal 4 times already. Anyone have any idea what the problem is? Thanks!
9.
There is also a part from Peripheral Electronics, the PXP01, a cable that plugs into the flat connector on your iPod, has RCA connectors on the other end, audio and video, and charges your iPod at the same time......about $20-$25 or so....
Lowest price i've found is $35.
10.
First of all, car dvd players have gotten cheap. Farenheit has a 1/2 din unit for around $150. You could also use a PS2, the newer slim one. A 400 watt inverter should cover a home dvd, PS2, XBox, etc....
As the AVIC-D2 is double din, I won't have any room left in the dash. The dvd player will be mounted elsewhere, probably the glove box.
11.
You could also use the CD-IB100II and get control of your iPod from your touch screen, along with a full display
i thought everyone says it sucks? Slow, only shows 8 characters of text, scrolls one page of artists/songs at a time, etc... I have about 30gb of music of my iPod and I don't really use playlists.
12.
a) All iPod functions should be available directly from the iPod. b) It depends on how you hook it up. You will get reduced sound quality using the headphone jack. For best sound quality, get a cable that plugs into the dock connector. Those usually also charge the iPod at the same time. c) eBay is the only place I've seen for those aftermarket aux adapters with a dock connector. 13.
I saw one at 12volt but was wondering does anyone one here have the s1 and would like to review it? Like I heard someone else say the s1 was dead-on, I know they changed maps to navteq, so how do you like the new maps from navteq? Is the s1 accurate? Just give a review. Thanks and God Bless.
Does anyone have the link to 12 Volt's review?
14. Another option: Can I instead get a DVD drive intended for a PC? I'm trying to save as much space as possible as my glove compartment is very small.
15. If I choose not to use the cigarette lighter where can I splice this wire? Also, what wattage should I use? Thanks.
16. Oh, FM modulation is out of the question by the way.
17. Apparently the Pioneer CDX-P1280 changer doesn't support MP3s (). Will a different brand changer work? Sorry for so many posts lately on this topic. I recently purchased an AVIC-D2 and looking for high capacity MP3 storage since iPod support is so poor.
18. How do I change the power connection from a standard outlet plug to a 12V usable in the car?
19. I was thinking of getting a generic (non-brand) dvd changer to handle my music and movies for the D2.
20. If I use an aux input to connect my iPod to the AVIC-D2... a) I realize that would be controlling the iPod completely through the scrollwheel and not the D2 screen, but will all iPod funtions be available? b) will there be any compromise in quality, as compared to a direct connection, such as Alpine FullSpeed? c) where do i get such a connection? Thanks!
21. Is anyone here playing MP3's from an external dvd player or changer on their D2? How is the interface? Will the D2 screen display ID3 tags from the audio DVD? I know that the iPod interface on the D2 is awful, so I'm looking for an alternative high capacity music storage option.
