  1. Lol, that's pretty funny, I just did an 08 mustang gt this past saturday (3/7/09) for a avic-f90bt.

It's pretty easy as long as you have the right parts. As someone previously mentioned, the 5521 harness, dash kit, and chrylser antenna adapter.

The pink wire goes to vss. Most of the sites and forums online say the car uses a CAN signal and doesn't have a vss, but I did find some sites that listed it. I found is easily connected it and worked perfectly. it's at the ecu under the hood, right behind the passenger side headlight. The wire's in the top plug, bottom left corner of the plug, blue w/yellow stripe. It's the only blue wire in the harness.

If you have a shaker system you have to take some extra steps in order to get it to sound good. The 5521 harness integrates the shaker system perfectly but you need to put a voltage converter on the blue turn on signal wire in order to prevent the loud annoying pop when you first turn on the car. After market radios use a +12v turn on signal, but the ford systems use a +5v. This results in a really loud pop. I read online that anything between 5 -> 8 volts will work. I went to radio shack and they only had one with 6v output. It looks like a cig lighter phone charger with a blank end on it(the end that would normally go into the phone). I also purchased a hardwired cig lighter adapter. (This is a part that has the female side of the cig lighter with loose +/- wires on the back) Plugged the 2 together, grounded the negative input and connected the positive input to the amp turn on coming out of the radio. The positive output of the cig lighter goes to your car's amp turn on (the blue/wh in the 5521) and the neg get's no connection. I know there's easier and better ways out there so if anyone disagrees with what i did please don't flip out. I have done it before with resistors, but I can't remember what resistance i did, i didn't have a multimeter during this install, and i really didn't feel like messing around with it.

As far as the illumination, there's is no connection behind the radio. Just pull out the head light switch (pry it out very gently) and there's a positive trip wire there. Sry can't remember the color.

Also, there's no accessory wire behind the radio. so you have to either go to the cig lighter if that's accessory or the ignition harness.

  2. Hey, hopefully one of you members can help me out. I have an N3 headunit and an n2 brain. I connected a gexp920xm and I'm getting the crappy one line display. Doesn't the n2 feature the enhanced xm display?

I Know the ipod and sirius are only enhanced with n3 brains. I though the n2 enhances xm though. If so, does this mean something is wrong with the brain?

I know I've installed d2's that were supposed to have enhanced ipod display's but didn't.

  3. Yeah, get a new disk, it's probably scratched. I've replaced nav disks many times b/c of scratches, sometimes they say they're not the right one, other times they just stop functioning half way through searching for an address. You can download the 70mtp here and burn it yourself, or just buy one off ebay.

  4. definitely flex cable. If you have it replaced right away then they probably just replaced it with the same defective part, they were doing that at first until the improved cable came out. Many people have had there flex cable go bad more than once even after proper pioneer service. I would just send it back and see if they will replace it.

  5. I've tried and messed up my unit, many have successfully, be extremely careful. I would recommend letting an experienced person do it, b/c if you mess it up, your f*cked. Pay the 100bucks and let same day audio repair do it, they've repaired 2 of my units and they've worked perfectly since.

  6. when you say picture is not coming out, do you mean the screen is completely black or it won't show you the video picture, for example b/c the driving lock is activated?

If it's not the driving lock and the screen is just wigging out then it sounds like the flex cable issue. Is so, then this symptom is just the beginning and more stuff will begin messing up.

  7. next time try the search, this has been beaten to death.

If you have the original cndv40 version 1.1 or 1.2 then just grounding the ebrake wire will perform the bypass. If you upgraded the unit with newer software then the only way to byass it is to open it up and solder to extremely small points together. If you don't want to do this then downgrade back to the original software.

  8. Even if the bypass was done you still need to ground the e-brake (light green) wire. ground that and you should be able to change all the setting and watch movies and stuff. To change the backgrounds just follow either pioneer instructions or from a post on this forum.

I just take a cdr and place to folders on it, one title "BG" and another with any title. I fill the bg with all the background pics and the other with some video files. I think it can be anything other than music, b/c if it's music the n2 will think it's a music cd and not a background cd. That's basically it, then just import from cd.

  9. I believe you have to go on into the settings menu and then hardware info to read if vss is working. If it just says 0 while driving then you don't have it connected to the right wire. The gauges don't work right away after connecting vss. Sometimes they take a day or two until the unit calibrates to the vehicle.

  10. Here's everything I can find

    2002 TOYOTA TUNDRA

    Headlights-Lo = GREEN/YELLOW (-) HEADLIGHT SWITCH

Parking Lights = GREEN (+) DRIVERS KICK PANEL

Low Crr. Pk Lights = RED/BLACK (-) AT LIGHT SWITCH

Brake Lights = GREEN/WHITE (+) SWITCH ABOVE BRAKE PEDAL

    Reverse Lights = RED/BLACK (+) 5 PIN WHT. CONN.

LF Pk Lt Bulb = GREEN (+) UNDER DRIVERS SEAT

RF Pk Lt Bulb = UNDER DRIVERS SEAT (+) GREEN

LR Pk Lt Bulb = GREEN (+) UNDER DRIVERS SEAT

RR Pk Lt Bulb = GREEN (+) UNDER DRIVERS SEAT

    LF Hazrd Bulb = GREEN/BLACK

    RF Hazrd Bulb = GREEN/YELLOW

    LR Hazrd Bulb = GREEN/BLACK

    RR Hazrd Bulb = GREEN/YELLOW

  11. this info if for a 2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO C2500 2DR TRUCK WITH 6.0L ENGINE, It's the closest I could find

Speed Sense = YELLOW/BLACK (AC) AT ECM MODULE UNDER HOOD ON DRIVER FENDER - BLACK PLUG PIN #57

    Another source says:

    2008 Chevy Silverado

UNDER VEHICLE DRIVERS SIDE ABS MODULE, ONLY GREEN/WHITE WIRE

  12. Here's the stuff you need:

    dash kit: Metra 99-9011

    Harness: Metra XSVI-9003

    Antenna Adapter: Metra 40-EU55

Just pick up this stuff and it's a snap, the dash kit comes with instructions on how to take the dash apart. I've used an xsvi-9003 before it didn't work right. newer vw cars don't have an accessory signal behind the radio. This piece creates the signal but I used it once and it just randomly would turnoff the radio. I recommend just buying a regular metra 70-9003 harness and running an accessory lead to the ignition harness but that's a little difficult for a newbie. So try the xsvi-9003, i think best buy carries it, so this way if it doesn't work like my situation you can return it.

  13. When you say tachometer, do you mean the vehicle speed sense wire (vss), If so here's the vss info:

Speed Sense = GREEN/ORANGE (AC) 35 PIN CONNECTOR AT THE ECM PIN 17 (8 CYL)

ON A 6 CYL THIS WIRE CAN BE FOUND IN A 22 PIN CONNECTOR AT THE ECM PIN 6

Just in case you do mean tach wire:

Tachometer = (AC) AT IGNITION COIL, CAN ALSO BE FOUND AS A BLUE/WHITE 31 PIN CONNECTOR AT THE ECM PIN 5 (8 CYL.) BLACK/BLUE AT THE COIL ON A 6 CYL
