  1. what sources are quiet? just dvd? or is it all of the speakers. the d3 does have a weak audio processor but ive found its adequate even with subs in the trunk. you can turn up the sla to +4 and also turning on the staging makes it very loud but it also adds alot of bass which door speakers usually cant handle
  2. hmmm the touch screen wont have "wires" it will have a ribbon cable if your friend interfaced the ribbon cable on his touch screen to "control" anything then we need him on board here at Avic411.com so if the above is correct i would love to get pictures or at least a description of the hack that he did. thanks! holy crap do you mean windows like computer lololol i think i just realized that if thats the case then sure you can simply buy a touch screen film that goes over your already touch screen film and it will have a usb interface to plug into a car pc... god im

its awesome for vehicles that you cannot replace the headunit in. any other car i wouldnt recomend it for. if your a person that "wants it to look stock" (i hate those people) it will give you what u want. very strange to set up and the gain control knob is cheap(its the same as the bass knob for their amps)
  4. i guess if he hooked up the remote wire or antenna wire it could "control" the windows. as far as taping onto the touch screen i dont think thats very possible.
  5. cntry have u ever used the d3 trim on any other avics? does it fit d2 or z's? i really wann know wtf pioneer was thinking
  6. i dont think u need a trim ring for that little of a gap the trim that comes with the d3 is retarded!!!! y couldnt they make the opening 1/4 inch smaller so it actually fits the d3 with out gaps. and make it out of the same gloss black plastic that the d3 is in... sorry i got off track there neways nice install n have fun with ur new avic
  7. looks pretty nice. is soooo sick of everyone hopping on the gps bandwagon. jensen just released a portable unit, eclipse has a double din with a tom-tom built in, alpines double din has a vcr slot for the "blackbird", garmin and magelan and all the others are producing gps' faster than apples making cell phones! the problem is all these portables are expensive. and im not talking about the end user either. cost on our 299 portable navs are 307 and on the 399 and up models profit is a couple dollars. rediculous the first company that can make a portable unit that has a hd in it that
  8. also ive had trouble with too many images in the pic file. ONLY 20 PICTURES CAN WORK IN THE FILE at least thats what the d3 manual told me
  9. lol no prob dude. i think im going to charge 100 bucks per car i do this on so dont spread the info tooo far i was sooo happy when i got the dvd lock out to work!! the plug u need is attached to the "screen" part of the unit as the one i did was 3 parts audio deck, screen, and nav box under pass seat. this should work on most all the indash navs from toyo and lexus. if confused check out the lexus forums.
  10. my 2 cents "ferrites" are gold. i keep everyone i dont need to use and use them up on stupid aux input installs! i do agree that they make great projectiles but still hand for real use
  11. looks good man! what i do to fill in gaps (at least to look filled in) is use black tape back behind the dash it doesnt need to be flush with the dash just cover up all the tan or light colord objects back there anyways nice!@
  12. i dont know why you would look on these forums but i recently bypassed a 2005 toyota land cruiser. it had the 6 disk dvd in the console but it would lock out video when the vehicle moved (through gps and park brake) to easily make dvd while driving possible simply locate the "violet" wire in the same plug as the "red/white" wire. red.white is park brake simply cut and ground the nav side of the wire. the violet wire doesnt always look violet but it should be the only violet looking wire thats not wrapped with any other wires. with this wire simply cut and tape up both ends separatly
  13. this is the one and only thing i regret about the d3. the audio processor in it isnt the greatest but i was soooo disapointed when the maps wouldnt show on rear screens. every other avic can do it waaahhhh! anyways its really because i doesnt have "dual zone" capabilities but for 1000 (i know) it still rocks balls!
  14. its METRAonline.com not metro youll need the double din kit and bose adapter w/ onstar and antenna adapter and youll need to cut out a chunck of plastic behind the dash have fun!
  15. hahahahaha i use ConvertxtoDVD i think it will work fine for the video files u use. i dont think it works for certain file types but.......
  16. lol i can just imagine a crackhead on the corner slangin some hot avic disks! that would be awesome id buy his whole inventory for 10 dollars in change
  17. yaaaaeeee! people believed me so now im right
  18. nice i can give you all advice for the future when your wife has a problem with anything your interested in; SHEEAADDDUUUPPP!
  19. for the second time today -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- i think for the right polarity on that truck u gotta go to the bcm. if you pull the under dash off you can see like 5 plugs facing the drivers seat. the wire you want is on the far right plug that only has like 5 wires in it grey/black= illumination the radio plug has an illumination but its not the right polarity so use this
  20. if you have a steering wheel control interface then thats your suspect. if not then deffenitly a prob with your unit again i must ask what kind of car and who installed it?

  22. well actually we got no flyers at all! he was in showing us new stuff (at the time i think it was a d2) and walked up to our display unit and locked it. luckily he left me his business card white you dont have to defend reps with quotation marks! j/p
  23. ok i finally answered my own question. ill put it on here for future reference unit on: press and hold a/v and info buttons while holding press reset button and continue holding the 2 buttons. release them when the pioneer logo shows on the screen. after that the dvd drive should lock the nav disk in or unlock it thanks me.
  24. well i got ahold of the reps answering machine!!! woooooo still i know with all the avic knowledge on this forum some one has to know!
  25. i dont wanna be a smart ass but.. have you programmed a route and then tried to use those features?
