I'd like more too!

I would donate to someone that has agreed to do this & actually posts here saying so, I will not be donating to an unknown entity that has made no commitment.

It last worked in ios 6, I got an iPhone 4 with 6 & it would not run on my NEX 8000.

Ok so is anyone going to follow up with this claim that a group is willing to develop this for a price? Is anyone going to start a donation account? Are any of you actually going to donate to a group without actually knowing if they will or can do this? Oh wait, the original developer had a donation account and was actually developing this project. Did any of you so eager to donate to an unknown group actually ever donate to the original developer? I'm guessing not and that is likely why this project is dead and will likely stay that way! It's dead people, move on.

I donated for a job well done years ago. I would not "donate to a group without actually knowing if they will or can do this" I'd suggest blanket attacks like this are not productive especially from a mod, however.

I'd pay to use it like my AR3 on my NEX 8000.

Anyone know if a 3GS on iOS6 will work? They are cheap on eBay.

Spotify on both my 6+ & 5 (which I plan on using as a tethered iPod) has a huge lag. 

Got it going. Had to kill HDMI connector & attach via USB 1.

 

 

 

Download is done, I have not been able to get the instructions. Do I need to freshly format the sd card a certain way/have the file in/out of a folder/name the folder some way?

Yes... CarPlay will not work if connected using the Digital AV Adapter. The Lightning cable must be plugged directly in to USB1.

Bummer guess I'm pulling the HU anyway.

 

Got any tips on pulling the unit out safely? I'm 99% sure my installers connected my lightningbolt cable to the USB 2 port on my 8000. I won't be able to bring the car in to the audio shop for atleast a week due to my work schedule.

Mine is in an e53 BMW X5 It is not horribly hard, removal depends on the car it's in.

Here is the 1.06 (CarPlay) update file for the 8000NEX ONLY!!!  DO NOT use it with any other model of NEX!!!  READ and FOLLOW the instructions (also linked below).  I don't want to be held responsible for anyone bricking their units!

Finally released!! pages take forever to load.

iPhone 6/6+ comes with ios8 & I am having no issues on my 5 with 8. It is still (yesterday) possible to downgrade to 7.2.

Have the AVIC 8000NEX connected to the 5 which is now an ipod tethered to teh 6+ running Pandora & all connected apps it has.




Made a space wallpaper/lock screen.

I spoke to Apple today about my 6+ and asked about Carplay. The issue required a senior advisor who seemed knowledgeable and said Apple has released what oems & aftermarket manufacturers need and now they need to implement it.

I just used mine with no issues. Sorry you are having a problem.

Yes they did.  The website (as of right now) says Summer 2014.

Initially it said EARLY Summer. That ship sailed next stop ? Fall. I still like my 8000, I just would like to be able to use it as advertised.

It would be rude to demand I'll defer to your choices.

first dont forget Pioneer never said what year they just said early summer! 

2) on the 9to5mac site it doesnt say anything about pushing back carplay for Pioneer or Alpine just for auto makers.

My beef is with Pioneer. They made promises they could not keep & have not owned up to the realities.

It might be good of you to actually check out the Apple CarPlay site before quoting an inaccurate article. 2014 is still referenced at the top of the page.

 

Sure, they have not changed their page, that means it has to be so.

 

Summer is also quoted on Pioneers, that door is quickly closing.

 

 

 

Bottom line, this is a fiasco for both companies, especially Pioneer.

Not at all, just not a blind consumer. I am an independent retailer/MECP/ASE certified 12v technician.

Apple quietly removes promise of 2014 CarPlay availability as it adds CBS News Radio compatibility

 

Apple has quietly updated its CarPlay microsite which explains the feature to add CBS News Radio to its growing list of apps it grants CarPlay support to, but a bigger change also appears on the CarPlay site this morning. Apple is no longer promising CarPlay support from any automobile manufacturer this year as it has done since its debut in March. While there has been no shortage of CarPlay demoes and availability announcements, actually getting your hands on a model with CarPlay thus far has proven almost impossible.

The site now says CarPlay “will be available†from listed partners without offering any specific timeframe (and removing the 2014 language for specific brands altogether). This is likely due to delays in CarPlay availability thus far, even in models that have announced support earlier this year with cars that are now on the road.
