  1. never said you'd be letting Pioneer dictate your actions. You can do whatever the fuck you want. I'm saying that it's like converting your car into E85 when no gas station around you carries it and throwing a fit.... I haven't updated my iPhone to 8 yet. Maybe it's because I work in the industry and see how much these IOS updates affect all manufacturers. Hell, when the iPhone 5 came out, Kenwood couldn't even use the bluetooth, Alpine needed a firmware update to connect via USB and BT. Just saying.

Sounds like you work for Pioneer to me.

  2. I'm pissed but nowhere near lawsuit pissed.

I had Kenwood units going back to the pull out tape decks of the 80s up tp 9980HD and after revisions  sh!tcanned previous models year after year plus the general bugginess referred above I went APPRADIO3 last year & 8000NEX this year.

The NEX sounds head & shoulders above anything from Kenwood & I loved my Kenwood units.

  3. Dear Valued Pioneer Customer:

We would like to advise you regarding the AVICSYNC feature update for Pioneer NEX models.   Pioneer had anticipated that the update would be available in spring for all NEX models with embedded navigation (AVIC-5000NEX, AVIC-6000NEX, AVIC-7000NEX, and AVIC-8000NEX).  With a connected smartphone, AVICSYNC would provide a simplified interface for accessing subscription-based services such as traffic, local search, weather, and gas prices.

Unfortunately the update for AVICSYNC has been delayed, and the revised release timing is expected to be by the end of this year.  While the AVICSYNC enhancements are not central to the functionality of NEX navigation products, Pioneer wishes to explain alternative solutions currently available.  With the NEX product in AppRadio Mode1 and connected to a compatible iPhone or Samsung Galaxy phone2, services can be obtained through the below AppRadio Mode compatible third party applications3 available through the iTunes App Store and Google Play:

    Services    Apps
    Live traffic updates     INRIX®, Waze®
    Weather     CommuteWX
    Parking locations and pricing    Parkopedia®
Fuel pricing and POI updates    Waze, ExtraMile
AVICSYNC is intended to enable access to the above types of services from one place.  Pioneer regrets that we are not able to provide this feature as previously scheduled.  We hope the above services will be useful in the interim.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Pioneer Customer Service toll free at 1-800-421-1404, Monday through Friday, 10:30 AM - 2:30 PM and 3:30 PM - 7:00 PM (Eastern Time), excluding holidays, or by email through http://parts.pioneerelectronics.com/contact/.

    Sincerely,

    Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc.

  4. This is why companies like Blizzard famously never give any timeframes, they just say it will be ready when it's done. Lots of issues can come up developing a big update like this, and Carplay is something of an entirely new product for Apple. If they wouldn't have given the summer timeframe, people would be complaining that they never gave a date when it would be released, and whining that it's vaporware.

If Grandma had balls she'd be Grandpa.

They did set a date, that date has passed & I find it great all these Pioneer employees are here to shovel the corporate fecal matter.

  5. I can't wait for the moaning and groaning once Carplay is released...... I can tell you right now it's not going to work 100% for everyone....

And yet the bitching has been non stop because Carplay wasn't released in "early summer" as implied. Taking longer to resolve compatibility issues, or licensing issues, or marketing issues means little to some people.

They sold the units with a promise of early summer carplay. When I buy something with a promise I expect that promise to be kept.

The least they could do is give a reasonable timeframe explination.

  6. I have also had this issue. I am used to my Garmin so after a few tries reverted to my Garmin for NAV, my APPRADIO3 210 first line Pioneer service experience was pretty poor, I got my 8000 by going over their heads but a smooth process I'd not call it although I am happy to have the 8000 now.
