Maybe because I'm parked with the parking brake engaged? Aren't these things designed to work without a bypass?

Any updates on this issue? I just installed the AVH-X8500BHS and the AVIC-U250 in my 2005 Grand Cherokee using the PAC C2R-CHY4 CAN Bus adapter (no parking brake bypass, yet...). Everything works except for the U250 navigation add-on. When I press the mode button on the 8500BHS, all I get is a black screen and audio from whatever source was previously selected. The U250 unit has power because the red power light flashes 4-5 times and then stays on steadily. The video switch is on WVGA. I've also tried resetting the U250 and nothing changes. I'm completely lost at this point an could use so
