  1. yes ebay isnt really for the masses.

from a sellers perspective i hate buyers. man whenever i see a bidder with 0 feedback im praying that some one will outbid them...

i usually ebay stuff in bulk an everytime theres a dummie. makes me wanna become a scammer

I don't agree with this but do get annoyed with ebayers who are stupid with money or computers (or just plain stupid). I have had a few bad buyers. But if I remember correctly you can reject a bid or put criteria for bidders or something. You can also always email the bidder who has little experiences and ask some basic questions.

  2. the reason as to why pioneer no longer makes this is because the FCC is changing all tv to digital, no longer analog. so from what is said, they will no longer be compatible

this is ballpark of 2009 so whtcrxghst is pretty accurate

Ya, but is Pioneer really going to go ~2 years with out having a tuner. Why not a digital/analog one. Or should I ask, does anyone know if one is in the works?

Is the format/signal for digital pined down? But then again they could also make it upgradeable.

  3. All of the companies, and possibly even different agents, will have different policies and responses. But always keep records of what you had, pictures and/or receipts. It never will hurt and only help. I was told I needed to increase my insured amount when I mentioned the aftermarket parts increased the value of the car a lot (not a small fraction of the cars worth).

But there is no blanket answer because costs and values are different. Let’s say you have a car worth $40K and have it insured for $40K. If you have a stereo worth a grand and it gets stolen. That $1K in losses is 2.5% of the cars worth. Here you are asking for a small amount back for what you are paying for. And if the car was stolen or totaled and you said “Oh and I had a $1k stereo in there too†they would probably say “no problem†because who knows if you had actually a $40K or a $39K car (dents can deprecate a car that much) and they want to keep you as a customer.

But let’s say you had a car worth $10K and insured it for $10K. If you had a $5K system and it got stolen. Even if you had proof of having it there is a good chance they will say “no wayâ€, that is 50% in losses. You were paying to insure $10K worth of property and you actually had $15K.

And don’t forget about you deductible, if your system is worth $1000 and you have a $500 deductible, you will get $500 from them. Basically ask you agent.

    Just my $0.02

  4. Soon - I'm moving from Nashville, TN - to the southern LA area. I don't know exactly where yet.. I'm flying in this week to try to find me an apartment. have any suggestions?

Moved to LA 2 years ago (almost exactly). I used this webpage. It does cost some cash but I love my Apt. Just check it often. My apt posted the morning I looked at it. We filled applications and got it locked in. Others wanted it later that day. Good grab. Google also has a good service.

  5. 40 gigs blows. Don't mean to offend, but do you know of any bigger drive made by the same company and can take a beating? Going through all that just for 10 gigs doesn't really sound worthwhile.

According to their web page Toshiba makes 4 Automotive Hard Disk Drives. Look at their table at the bottom of their page.

    Toshiba's Automotive Hard Disk Drives

    Toshiba's MK4036GACE Specifications

MobileMax Ultra ATA 80-GB Hard Drive Specifications

The only other one I have found that makes a much larger is Seagate/Maxtor. The 80 GB Maxtor has about he same durability specs as the Toshiba. Shock is a little better but temp is not as good. But as stated before, these are limited by the software for now.

I almost wonder if Pioneer is going to put out an upgrade for the Z1/Z2 that includes a larger HDD and software updates to use it. Why else would they make the HDD accessible, instead of making it sealed in the unit? Make it more serviceable, maybe? I am guessing/hoping they are waiting for these drives to improve in size, ~100 maybe 150GB. They probably think “Who would pay $300 for 10 GB extra space. But 100 GB will sell.†I don’t know just hoping I guess.
