Well yes I realize that (duh, doesn't hurt to explain it for everyone else) but yeah just curious about the quality and if maybe having the appradio gives the iOS a digital pass to stream higher quality to it vs standalone. Probably not just wishful thinking out loud I guess.

Here's a good question, what bitrate is Pandora music streaming via AppRadio? Is it capable of 192 kbps if you're with Pandora One?

• Higher Quality Audio - Listen to Pandora at 192 kbps on the web or in the Desktop App
http://help.pandora.com/customer/portal/articles/90985-audio-quality
Audio QualityPandora on the Web plays 64k AAC+ for free listeners and 192kbps for Pandora One subscribers. All in-home devices play 128kbps audio, and mobile devices receive a variety of different rates depending on the capability of the device and the network they are on, but never more than 64k AAC+._____________________________________________________________
I'm assuming we're stuck at 64k AAC+ since it's going through a mobile device unless there is a special exception Pioneer got through. It seems pretty ok to me, just putting it out there though.
"It sounds good/better... relatively. --To say 128k mp3 because AAC+ is hands down a better/much more "efficient" codec for low bitrates.....relatively speaking of course. The sweet spot for AAC+ is 48k--(from a delivery standpoint). typically anything above 96k on the listening end ....the improvements (over mp3) are for the most part.... negligible. Interesting, 48k over 64k."

All the same bugs from ec touch are still there for me!
iPod and video buttons freeze up
Still can't sign in to soundcloud
Along with waze, ec touch just never works properly for me lol
bummer, yeah I've had it crash twice on me once so far, but it's been good on several trips though non stop. I wonder why you can't log into soundcloud? It lets me in. Maybe try changing your password to something simple or take away strange characters? I have noticed it's hard to scroll up/down on the main ED Touch page at times. (or it selects something when you wanted scrool)

Haven't tried this myself as I'm still holding at v.6.1.0 but have a look:
This is where google is NOT your friend. That site is bogus. For starters, any jailbreak site that asks for your credit card number is not real. Your best news source is http://modmyi.com
There some recent news about possible 6.1.3 but it's not out yet. I'm staying on 6.1.2
"iOS Hacker Winocm Has a Binary That Can Untether an iOS 6.1.3 Jailbreak, But Needs Work"

I'm pretty happy with EC Touch (now that the bugs are out with latest update), I guess I should try this one too though looks fun.
-
Hmm I've only used it a few times, worked great for me. I'll post if I have wrong place issues. I have TomTom as well but haven't used it in awhile ever since Google Maps became king.

I think I'm out of luck till iOS 7.
Exactly, the Jailbreak Dev's are holding the remaining exploits they have left up their sleeves for iOS 7. I read they confirmed a few were already patched it latest Beta but they have a few more that might work.
I thought I'd be done with jailbreak when the iPhone 5 came out with iOS 6, but here I am still jailbreak years later! I hope the tradition will continue.

I just learned that Jailbreak Cydia App: "AssistantLove" Sends all my Siri navigation voice commands directly to Waze. (works great)
http://avic411.com/index.php?/topic/34188-appradio-extensions-20-beta-full-iphone-control/?p=270554
This is an older video but still shows how it still works.

AssistantLove works with Waze.
It works! Perfect thanks. Now my voice commands to addresses or intersections open right up in Waze, excellent. This alone makes Waze my #1 navigation app while driving.
-MapsOpener still opens addresses I "touch" open to Google Maps (which is what I want)
-I couldn't ever confirm Googiri was actually ever doing anything for me even when I installed it alone. I think I'll leave Googiri uninstalled for now.
I find myself using Pandora more than I ever have in the past only because it's faster to launch on the AR3 main hard coded menu. (pre AppRadio connection)
But you're right, Waze is pretty slick looking FULL screen edge to edge. Bigger is better.
I wonder what happened to the Russian HackRadio operation? It looks like they gave up earlier this year. https://www.google.com/#q=HackRadio.Me Having the actual AR3 running a Custom Firmware would be ideal.
I'm looking forward to seeing what else can be enhanced via AppRadio Extensions. (so far so good)

Since I have the AVH-X5500BHS and it has fixed buttons for track forward and back I'm all for full screen with unsupported apps! I'd love for Navigon to run full screen. I hate Waze, but sometimes I just use it because it is big and nice looking, but Navigon in full screen would be great.
Again, thanks for all of your work Mike. It's a shame Pioneer won't get with the program and take some tips from you on how they could make their product so much better.
I use Googiri & MapsOpener to send all voice commands to google & open all addresses or routes via google maps. I'd use Waze more if I could send voice commands directly to Waze instead of Google Maps, (right now I have to Copy Paste search results to Waze). Maybe that will change soon now that Google owns Waze and they are slowly merging features.
DirectionBar is another nice app to have a compass icon next to the LTE/WiFi icon.
I haven't been driving much since I installed the new AR3 last Friday so I'm still getting familiar with the quirks. I wrote off EC Touch until I used it more, pretty slick worth the few bucks.
I'm all about getting full screen but if the calibration will suck, we'll need to dial that in right away of course. I'm not exactly sure hwo the X Y Multipliers work yet and haven't tried changing them yet. (still working with the basics) I'd be happy to learn and help test next build innovations though!

Yeah I understand all of that. Until now my understanding is you had to use the legacy 30 pin connector's USB portion with the Lighting cable in order to satisfy the USB requirement of the unit with the i5. This cable came standard with the AR2 which is what I have. I was convinced I would have to retain this cable from my AR2 when I purchase the AR3 in order to get everything to work properly. I now know that is not the case and you have some me some money when the time comes to upgrade. Page 7 of the diagram below is how I came to the conclusion that I came to before now.
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/StaticFiles/Manuals/Car/SPH-DA110_InstallationManual050913.pdf
Ah yes the good old instruction booklet
I'm confident that Apple will finalize Lightening control commands in the near future. (maybe iOS 7? or 7.1) We'll for sure need the official cable then, assuming Pioneer comes out with a firmware update.
So for now it's just marketing & a way for Pioneer to make more money + possible future proofing.
I think it's pretty silly that apple has no lightning data/control options for car stereo's yet. (but I'm hopeful!)
-
Yeah I understand that but I need to know if you are using the square multi pin cable or are you using just the female USB connector to run App Mode.
By square multi pin cable you mean CD-IH202 righth? I never bought the CD-IH202 kit. I had it professionally installed (I was lazy) and I only gave them the AR3, HDMI Cable, Lightening Adapter, and USB-Lightning cable.
There is only one USB port they could have plugged in right?
I remember talking with the installer on how the CD-IH202 was a rip off for iPhone 5 users.
Maybe this will change in the future after apple releases the lightening control commands. The whole Bluetooth thing is a work around pioneer came up with. That's why iPod control is gray'd out from the main screen with iPhone 5
-
iPhone 5 lightning works 100% without it since they use Bluetooth to control the iPhone 5. It's just a dumb power connection to feed the HDMI adapter.

"The highly popular Waze navigation application for iOS has Wednesday received an update bringing the application up to version 3.7.3. Google acquired Waze in June of this year and has been slowly integrating many of its features including the Waze Incident Reports into the Google Maps application, but that doesn't stop Waze fans from using the Waze application itself, and it has just gotten better with today's update. The update makes it so that the Map interface in the application appears much cleaner by only showing certain incidents and items on the map based on their distance from the user. In addition, duplicate reports are now grouped together under one to reduce the amount of clutter. In addition, the Waze team added a new Sleep Mode, which will freeze the Waze navigation system and allow you to resume when you're ready rather than shutting down the navigation system altogether. Bug fixes and stability improvements were also a critical part of today's update. Existing users of the Waze application will find the update under the Updates tab in the App Store. Alternatively, you can download the latest version of the Waze application from the iOS App Store via this link. Sources: App Store"

The Chromecast idea is neat and all but I don't see why its necessary. I can already do most if not all of this with my iPhone alone.
I do things because they can be done not because they should me done. pushing bleeding edge tech gets me off what can I say.

"what i did was i bought a toggle switch and some wire clamps. I had one wire from the toggle switch clamped to the ground wire and another wire clamped to the power source and mounted the toggle switch.
works 100% fine"

There is only one USB female port on the AR, it's for both iPhone and Android as far as I know. (not sure why you call it "Android standard USB", it's just Standard USB)
-
I've noticed most "official" appradio app videos are full screen on the AR3 while some of the mirrored non supported apps are shrunken down. I have a Slingbox and the iOS SlingPlayer app isn't full screen for some reason. This particular app has the controls on the iphone while video is displayed externally. So it's nice that the remote is split to the iPhone and video is seperate on the AR, it's a shame that it's not FULL screen. I can pick stretch to get the video full height but the sides are still black bars even though it's an HD 16:9 video
-
I will caution not to purchase cheap Chinese versions of any cable for use with this system unless there is no other alternative. I can almost guarantee you will have serious issues.
Monoprice is 100% safe for HDMI cables, It doesn't hurt to buy "official" lightning products direct from Apple. You'll still pay less than what Pioneer wants for the "kit" though.

Have you tried the hdmi switcher on the ar3 with a phone or do you have one on a tv
I'm waiting for a $1.70 cent HDMI gender changer to arrive (so I don't have to rip my car apart to plug it in) and I'll test the HDMI auto-switch. It works fine testing it on my main TV between HTPC and iPhone. I expect it to work the same on the AR3 but will post my official findings. I have the $35 Chromecast on order too for other reasons but will test it in my car too!

Why don't you just install this? (works great for me)

You can't read any Flash Drives via USB on the AppRadio. You can only hookup an iPod/iPhone/Android device
Read this:

You can burn DVD's full of mp3/aac audio files to play if you have the new AppRadio 3 (SPH-DA210 DVD model) That's about it.
AppRadio was centered around doing it all through your Smart Phone.

I'm not sure since I'm using iPhone 5, but did you check the Settings?

Hey thanks JazJon...that worked great!! Thats what it was.
Much appreciated.
Glad I could help and you're back in Action.
I'm just getting to know my AppRadio 3, so far so good it's fun!
