If you read the manual it says not to use the stylus. It is only included for calibration. Not sure about that product.

So what are some things that I can try? Has anyone else had a similar problem?

I tried that. When I push the power button on the DVD player, it will come on for about 5 seconds, and then turn off. The screen comes on and the DVD spins, and then it just shuts off. Sometimes its less than 5 seconds.

I have a D3 and I am trying to get the factory DVD player to work. I bought the Metra 70-5520AV wiring harness. It has a black wire, blue/white wire, and red/white RCA outs. I'm not sure where to connect these wires. I assume that the black wire goes to ground, the red/white RCAs go to the audio input on the D3, but where does the blue/white go? Any help would be appreciated.
