  1. THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WHO'VE LEFT COMMENTS. I BRAVELY INSERTED A DISC (DID NOT SEEM TO MATTER WHICH ONE) AND SAT BACK WITH A DIET ICE TEA WHILE IT WORKED ITS MAGIC IN JUST A FEW SECONDS. WHEN IT SEEMED OVER AND THE SCREEN HAD SAID :YOU UNIT HAS BEEN UPDATED, OR SOME SUCH MESSAGE, i CHECKED A FEW ADDRESSES JUST FINE, TURN IT OFF AND WENT IN TO COOK SUPPER. sO THANKS AGAIN. HOPE THEY LEAVE THE QUESTION UP LONG ENOUGH IT WILL HELP SOMEONE ELSE.
  2. Thanks only I will not do it will driving!!!! I am very confident with computers but when the directions say you cannot go back, and warn of possible problems when installing where there is a brake bypass, I sit up and take notice.
  3. Will the new map updatedisks install properly if the brake bypass has been applied? Literature has an emphasis placed on setting the parking brake like the install will fail, if you don't do it.
  4. I have an AVIC-D3 unit (2007) with the brake bypass installed. I recently bought the Pioneer CNDV-90T Map upgrade USA/Canada (original no copy, bought from Amazon.com) Directions seem to admonish update may fail on a unit where the bypass has been done. Before I make a mess, I'd like to know. If there is still an Arkansan named installermac, I would probably visit him and pay to have the update installed. But will attempt myself with good advice. I mainly don't want to mess up what I have, for newer maps, if what I do messes up the now properly functioning with bypass installed.

Thanks!!! After several false starts, I chose consultant and typed in my information. There was massive changes in roads, streets and number when this area converted 911 requirements, but that seems a very long time ago.
  6. Will installermarc-- Cabot reply to my personal e-mail I will be in LR area OCT 30 and would be willing to swing by CABOT. I used to go near Cabot on way to Jacksonville LRAFB . My e-mail is b11s02c20c04@yahoo.com . My phone # is (870)445-4454 lv message as I am out alot for an old lady. Price is certainly reasonable. However, I am still going to insist on dealership fixing other issues before bypass. I don't want to get the bypass and then go to them with the existing issues. They will just say I used unauthorized something or other and deny or charge for fixing what was pre-

    2007 disks

My AVIC D3 came with 2007 disks. The mapping for my area of Arkansas is extensively incorrect. I have no idea when the information was obtained, but think it is before my area complied with 911 nomenclature. Our county rounds have incorrect numbering and names. Both changed about 6 years ago. POI city Hall in my town is one block off and on wrong side of street. My home address is about 7 blocks off if I type it in. I had to relocate it myself. This seems to be an unusual amount of errors. The NAV TEC software in a PnP iWay I have is much more accurate. I'd dislike paying $250
  10. Thanks for all the input . My salesperson was a newbie in the business--1 year experience. She mentioned the dealer routinely installed navigation products & expected I would have a unit with at least a 4 disk changer but did not mention brand. I realize from all the posts (and I did try the suggestion for the day/night display) there must be problems with installation. A call to Pioneer tech did not offer a solution either. The unit IS set for daytime display. When in garage at night it is much darker-nearly black with illumination set at 42. When I back out into daylight it cha
  11. Do any of Pioneer in-dash navigation units or any or brand allow you to map and address a location not defined in the general database or POIs. I have a portable plug-n-play iWay which far exceeds my Pioneer AVIC D3 in nearly every category. When I say map I mean you stop out in the middle of a pasture and designate that location by the satellite reading coordinates. You give it a name like Joe's barn and load/store it in the address/database which on the iWay is a hard drive. This D3 was an after-market add-on to a new Toyota Highlander. I am very disappointed in several things/lack
  12. I am going to print out the whole chain and take it with me to RMS of Springfield. My Toyota client advisor is supposed to set me up appt after Labor Day. I have a problem with a warning "Moon Roof Open" that did not start until after nav installation, and a couple of physically damaged louvers in an air control vent, which was not apparent until after installation. We don't use the moon roof; it just happened to be on the vehicle we picked. I don't want to disturb anything until these items and the wiring is verified. In other words, I think the installation may have some errors. Some of
  13. I have the nav LCD setting to daytime and it is still gray; I have the dimmer at max 42. On a different forum the problem is also addressed. The problem seems to be the running lights, a function of the headlights, always on and where the sensor lead is attached. The vehicle's running lights are always on when the vehicle is running, even when the light switch is in the complete off position. There is an AUTO position, too. But right now I am using the completely off position. This is on my list for installer to check out. One suggestion is a toggle switch on that forum. This may not
  14. thanks everyone. I am due for some a bug fixes at dealership in about 2 weeks. Some of the bugs did not start until after AVIC D3 installation. I was told the installer, RMS of Springfield MO , might tell me how to do bypass, but will not do it himeself. My other direct problem is the nighttime screen is always on even in daytime. It seems there is a sensor linked to the headlights. Since the Highlander has "running lights" which are dimmed headlights, I suppose there is no cure for that. They may try a different nav. system. Actually I like it pretty well, except database for my area is
  15. I am located in Bull Shoals, Arkansas which is near the following small cities: Mountain Home and Harrison, Arkansas. I also often shop in Springfield, Missouri and Little Rock, Arkansas. I talked to Toyota dealership who outsourced installation of AVIC D3. They nor the installer will do the bypass. They citied DOT rules and possible lawsuits, etc. etc. I do understand. However, my other concerns about possible poor installation are being addressed. Fortunately I am not out much on the eBay purchase. If anyone knows of an installer within 50-100 miles of the abovementioned tow
