  1. 5201NEX Help please;

    Can you guys/gals please provide me with the steps and data I need to get into my 5201NEX & delete / figure out my password. My avic-5201NEX is NOT running the latest version of firmware. & the back story for all you forum lovuhhhs! I bought my avic -5201NEX a few months back, as I know Some of you have read this a million times.... I locked myself out of my 5201 when I unplugged my battery & was prompted for the password to get back in that I have tried to guess for hours (which I don’t understand I use a series of password for everything and none of them work so i must have been in a strange mood I guess that day lol) anyways what I am hoping and asking is simple for an experienced user on this forum, I have only been on it recently in the hopes of being able to access my headunit again without having to send it back to fricken pioneer and wait 4-6 weeks for it to come back. Anyways that’s it long story short, I’m going to continue searching and piecing together the data I can but I would TRUELY appreciate someone taking a couple mins to link the files needed , or even just write the steps and tell me what files to look for , Thank you again in advance look foward to speaking with you
  2. Hello Guys, I got an F970BT that came with a Fiat Stilo I got recently. Unfortunely, unplugging the car battery asked me for password, no one knows it. So I have past 2 hours and finally got the testmode for Android AVICs. testmode_a.rar 141bytes 0 downloads Extract Testmode_a.key to an empty, formatted usb (fat32). While the unit is ON, pop in the stick in USB1. The unit will auto reboot, into test mode. Perform Initialize To Factory Defaults. The screen will go blue, then reboot. No more Password. Tested OK on F970BT.
  3. I went out to get into my car this morning and noticed that my AVIC-X910BT will not boot up. It will turn on but gets stuck at the splash screen (original Pioneer logo screen). I put a CD in and it played music but the screen was still stuck. I also pushed the reset button in the upper left-hand corner which turned the screen on and off but this did nothing. The unit was in my 2003 Acura CL Type-S when I bought it in 2012 and was installed professionally (I was given the receipt for the install but unfortunately I no longer have it). It had the firmware version 3.020100 on it which, according to Pioneer's website, is the most recent official update. I even downloaded the firmware to an SD card and tried to update it but it would not do anything. I read that this is because it will not recognize firmware on and SD card if it has already been installed but I have no idea if this is correct. It did not have any mods on it or anything. I spoke with Pioneer support but of course they are telling me I have to send it in so they can service it and make money off me. He also mentioned it could be a blown fuse on either the vehicle or the unit itself but I have not checked this yet. I had already started typing this post before I spoke with him. I don't remember his exact wording on this question but he also asked if there was anything could have caused some sort of an electrical power surge (alternator problems, faulty cigarette lighter, etc.) but I can't think of anything that would've done this between last night when it was working fine and this morning. I will be checking these as soon as I am done here. I am willing to do anything to get this fixed as soon as possible but I don't want to spend any money on it. I have read about testmode but am not sure how this works and which is the newest/best version that will work with my unit. I am in desperate need of a solution as I am driving to a wedding 4 hours away on Sunday and that will be miserable if I have I can't play music from my phone (via the 3.5mm aux port) like I normally do. I am brand new to this site so I am not sure if this topic has been covered but I did do some searching and could not find many people that experienced the same issue as me, let alone a solution to my problem. I also read about hacks/mods but I want to make sure I have the correct version before I try it so that I don't make things worse Please be as detailed as possible with instructions as I am new to all of this. I would love to have a link to where I should download firmware/software from and which versions I should choose etc. Something I thought of but could not find an answer to was whether or not it is it possible to download an older version of the firmware so it will be recognized by the unit and then I could update it later. Would this help? As a side note, I am using a MacBook Pro so I am not able to open/edit Windows files so I would like to be able to do this from my computer. I do have access to a PC if need be so that is the least of my concerns. I am willing to do anything at this point. Somebody PLEASE help me!
  4. I attempted to update my nav software on my avic z140bh. I followed the instructions to a tee up to the point where i had to select "System uCom Write" i inadvertently pressed System uCom all Write. When i attempted to stop this it continued to write. Eventually i got an error message. I tried to remove sd but was unable to open screen. I removed battery cable and then reconnected but to no avail. Then the unit went black. I have not been able to revive it. I just checked fuse at rear of unit; it is o.k. Any and all suggestions welcome re: unbricking or removal of sd card. Thanks
  5. Hey, I'm just wondering if this is a broken unit, or if this is what I should expect from an AppRadio . . . I bought 2 new AppRadio's at Best Buy last week when they were having the $199 sale. I was going to buy one for my wife for our anniversary, but they were so cheap, I decided to upgrade my U310BT while I was at it. Since my car has an aftermarket wiring harness in it already, I hooked mine up first. This is far from my first radio install and everything is hooked up correctly. I hooked up the parking brake wire to a SPST switch to ground, ASWC for steering wheel controls. Other than that it's not a complicated install. No external amps, no backup camera, etc. From day 1 it has been a hassle. It has needed to be reset just about daily. It seems like every time it has been off for a while and goes through the "Pioneer' splash screen bootup process, you have about a 50/50 chance of it working. Sometimes, the touch screen will freeze, not letting you press that initial "OK" to start the radio. Sometimes, it will boot up but not sense the phone is plugged in. This morning, I had it boot up, no iPhone plugged in, turned on the radio, and had the whole thing freeze with the volume adjustment on the screen. The volume buttons still worked but the touchscreen was frozen and the home button didn't work. Plugging in a phone didn't help. The most frustrating thing about this is that every time something boneheaded like this happens, I have to hard-reset the friggin thing, losing the clock (which, come on, it can't auto-set the clock? My crappy U310BT could at least do that!), radio presets, screen settings, etc. I have had to reset the thing every single day I've owned it. This is happening on OS 2.22 and 2.45. At this point I'm not sure if it's worth the hassle to even unpack and install the second one, or if I should just return both of them and hunt for something else. Is this normal? How often do you guys hard-reset your units?
