fugie
Hi all- My daughter bought her first car, a 2011 Scion TC with a AVIC X910BT, but no users manual was supplied. We can pair with Bluetooth the iPhone14 to the X910BT and receive a phone call, but how do we play music from the iPhone 14 to X910BT via Bluetooth? Again, the iPhone 14 is paired, but not seeing an obvious way to play music from the phone to the X910BT. Sorry for such a basic question, but without the manual, the device interface is not very intuitive. Thanks for your help and time!!
fugie
And as a follow up, if Bluetooth isn't an option, can a USB to lightning cable be used to play music from the phone to the X910BT? Thanks again all!
RonS
You can download the X910bt user manual from Crutchfield. https://pdf.crutchfieldonline.com/ImageBank/v20090713153600/Manuals/130/130AVIC910.PDF This unit is over 15 years old and had limited firmware updates. I doubt it will support a modern iPhone over Lightning cable but I don't do apple. You can try it is you have a cable and have access to the unit's USB connector. Looking at the manual, I'm not seeing support for music over Bluetooth. Just guessing since I have no experience with the older models. If it was me, I'd get a modern radio that supports carplay. fugie
Thank you @RonS for sharing the link to the X910bt user manual! I appreciate it. I quickly reviewed the manual and it looks like you are correct. I don't see any support for music over Bluetooth. The cable that comes from the X910bt seems to be some 30ish pin connector of some kind, so I can't connect direct to the iPhone 14. And now I'm wondering if the USB/AUX ports on the center console of the Scions aren't even connected to the X910bt, but are only for power. Is there anyway to test if those ports are connected to the X910bt? I appreciate your guidance on the buying a new stereo, but I'd rather exhaust an possibilities of connecting to the X910bt before exploring buying and installing new stereo. Thanks again for your help!
RonS
Do you even know if the console USB delivers power? Even if it does, it might not be connected to the X910bt. I think there's only one USB connection to the X910bt. To test if it is connected to the X910bt you could use a USB memory stick with a few mp3 files to see if you can access and play them. The 30pin connector is probably for connecting to old style (pre-lightning interface) iPods. I used an old one to store and play music with my old AVIC Z110BT which was a few years newer and more advanced than the X910bt. I think one of the firmware updates added support for lighting, but by then I moved to an android phone and played audio over bluetooth.
fugie
Okay! We are almost there @RonS! We bought this adapter cable at Amazon: Lightning to 30-Pin Adapter, iPhone Charging Data Sync Connector Cable 8-Pin Male to 30-Pin Female Output Adapter. We then connected the adapter to the 30 pin cable on the X910bt and the lightning end of the adapter to the iPhone 14. We then chose the AV1 option set to video on the X910bt and we now have music playing out of the left side speakers in the car, but not the right side. Any thoughts for getting music to play out of all the speakers? If we play the radio, music plays out of all the speakers. BTW, the adapter also charges the phone. Thanks again!! RonS
Well that's good news. AFA left only, I don't have any guesses. I don't know much about how that Lightning interface works. I'm actually surprised that the X910bt supports it at all. Did you set AV1 Input to iPod in the AV System Settings menu? Did you try it using the iPod as the audio source? Note: Pioneer uses the term iPod and iPhone interchangeabley.
