Sirius Traffic

I was doing some looking around over at sirius.com and found that they offer a traffic service, much like XM's NavTraffic.

It looks like its only availble with Alpine head units right now, but near the bottom of the FAQs it mentions it works with TeleAtlas maps. So I am assuming this will work with the Z1, if a module like the GEX-P10XMT was made for Sirius Traffic.

This may not matter to anyone because it looks like the markets covered are the same between Sirius and XM, but what caught my attention on the Sirius system was their plans to expand to Canada. But since both services are using NavTeq traffic to aquire its information, I also assume that XM will be in Canada the same time Sirius is.

seen the same thing yesterday. I hope they do offer it for the Z1 because I almost switched or added xm for that reason

I almost switched or added XM as well. It look like they will be adding other brands later this year. Hope the Z1 can use it.

I hope Sirius thought this through, and used the exact same protocol that XM used so any head unit that works for XM navtraffic will also work for Sirius traffic.

The regular traffic reports haven't helped me much. They take too long to know that there is a problem and by that time I'm already trapped in the middle of it.

I imagine the "automated" traffic reporting would be the same but I guess even a little bit of information is better than nothing.
