assassindl
Hi I just bought my Z2, but have not installed it yet. It was refurb. by Pioneer, should I or DO I have to unlock my Z2 to do the bypass? Also what are the benefits of unlocking the Z2
inferno999
it sounds like you've got it backwards. The 2-wire bypass is what unlocks the Z2, allowing you to access full control/video while driving. To do the bypass, you may need to update your Z2 with the bypass-enabler-update cd. Also, you can unlock the Hard drive. It'll cost you $45 and the only reason to do it is to upgrade to the Z3 when am image in available. As of now, there's no reason to as it doesn't give you ANYthing.
assassindl
Where can I get access to this CD or what is the link and the directions to installing this CD to my Z2? Also once I take it to a professional and have them install the Z2, I can imagine I would have to tell them to install the update before they can try to do the bypass correct? inferno999
The CD is located here: http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8783 (follow method 2) And the 2-wire bypass can be done (to the wiring harness) at any point before or after updating the Z2. It just won't work 'till you update.
assassindl
Thanks GOT It....Sorry for sounding slow. I just wanted to make sure I do all the right steps. But another question. I've heard of people's Z1 & Z2 freezing up. Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening to me?
inferno999
There's an update for that too. It (also) enables the bypass ... so you don't have to do both. You can just do this one, at any time: [Link to Freezing Update]
assassindl
Ok thanks...I believe thats about it. The only thing I think I would need help in is when I want to upgrade the HDD so I would be able to add more music. Do you have any recommended ideas about upgrading the HDD?
