Hi guys, I just picked up a D2 pretty cheap because the guy selling it said he screwed up a custom background job. Anyway, the thing boots up and immediate flashes the "Please insert appropriate disc" message, without even going to the radio at all.

I've got a set of 60M and 70M discs, and some blue ones that say "Application Disc for AVIC-D1 Version 1.2" which seem to predate the 60Ms. I tried them all, and it gives me the "The disc is being checked" message, followed by "Please eject the disc and insert the appropriate disc again". With the 70Ms, it first did an update, but still refused to boot. I have gotten into the system menus and downgraded to the blue discs and tried them all from there with no luck.

Is there any way to salvage this unit? :?

I have done a reset, but that doesn't do me any good. No matter what disc I use after a reset it still hangs. I have a couple D1s that need some work and when I turn them on, they come up to the radio screen. This D2 doesn't even allow that, it simply sits at the "Please insert the appropriate disc" screen and won't budge, even when no disc is inserted.

In the service menu, under Program Force Write, it lists the GPS program as "NG". I have used the 60M and 70M discs to try to update it via the DVDROM, as it shows both of those discs as having version 4.40, but each time I hit the MAP button it goes to flash and fails. It simply drops back out to the menu and the GPS program is still "NG". Could this be the cause of the problems? And does anyone know how to fix that?
