DBMaxwell
I have an 08 F250 that I put in a Z2. The compass on the dash quit when I was done. My question is, does the compass depend on the factory radio, or did I screw something else up?
kjorrey
Have you tried calibrating the compass? There are 2 wires that go from the compass sensing module in the rear view mirror to the instrument cluster. They are yellow/green stripe and blue/gray stripe. --------------------- 1. NOTE: For optimum calibration, drive to an open, level location away from large metallic objects or structures. Switch off all non-essential electrical accessories (heated rear window, heater, A/C, map lamps, wiper, etc.) and make sure all the doors are closed. Start the vehicle. 2. Press the message center SETUP button until RESET FOR CALIBRATION is displayed. 3. NOTE: The message center displays CIRCLE SLOWLY TO CALIBRATE in the calibration function. Press the RESET control button to start the compass calibration function. 4. NOTE: This step may require up to 5 circles to complete the calibration. NOTE: If the RESET button is pressed during the calibration or 3 minutes has elapsed since the beginning of the calibration without driving the vehicle, the message center reverts back to normal operation and the INFO displays CAL until a successful calibration is carried out. Slowly drive the vehicle in a circle less than 5 km/h (3 mph) until the CIRCLE SLOWLY TO CALIBRATE display changes to CALIBRATION COMPLETED.
