New N3 always saying "mute"

Recommended Posts

Hello,

just received my Avic-n3 today and took it to bestbuy to be installed into a 2000 Buick Century. once the installer was finished and powered it on you can't turn up/down the volume, and it will always display "mute" in the bottom left corner.

when putting in a cd it appears to be playing but as soon as i touch the volume control it shows mute.

now the installer has no idea what to do, he told me the unit just might be bad, i just wanted another opinion. also i have not yet put in a navigation disc does this affect it? (didnt wanna open one if i have to return all of it)

i'm open to suggestions before i have to send this thing back for a replacement.

Thanks for any and all input in advance!!

Just got back from bestbuy, when i first explained to him what you thought it was he more or less said "theres no way i did that"
but sure enough he did! and now it's working great.

now i just have to take it all back out to do the bypass :D

awesome! the N3 is my first indash unit also and I am loving it. I did honestly bypass the unit so my wife could watch movies when we do our 22 hour drive to florida several times a year, but Im not even interested in that! I am so loving the Nav!
