So maybe I got a bad unit-? I got it from Crutchfield. I had the unit installed twice. The first time it work fine, but I had to remove it and replace because the GMOS was bad, so I replaced it with a PAC adapter for my 04 Escalade. And ever since then, its been shutting off. I hope somebody knows whats up.

I had this happen to two D3's. It would also put me in NY often. I didn't see this problem with my third D3 before I sold it though.

didn't you also say previously that you got 2 faulty d3's in a row? its probably an internal failure....i would say loose ACC or Constant but i dont think that'd reset your settings..

Could be a solder joint going bad, which is not uncommon. It's almost impossible to fix because some of the pins on these chips are the size of hairs with about the same space between. Plus, you don't know which solder joint is going bad.

It could also be an EEPROM going bad, which could explain the settings getting erased.
