tillithz
a good ground is a good ground, and actually you dont want multiple grounds really. the vss wire is NOT required, but will yield about 3 ft. more accurate positioning. The reverse wire is for the backup camera function
va_connoisseur
Many thanks. Looks like I can do the install of the HU myself and get the XM ant mounted by Tweeter and then I am done. Cool. Thanks for your help. I see you're in Oakland. Are you a member of the Raider Nation?
tillithz
right on. naaa I am not a football fan really. why not put the ant in yourself, its not hard at all.
va_connoisseur
the gps antenna will not be an issue, I already have a spot for that on the interior, I want the XM ant installed on the exterior to look professional. Only reason I am putting that outside is it needs 360 view of the sky for best reception
tillithz
as you may have read already here, the ant. and xm unit functions well with it installed on the inside, though the 360 degree you mention is stated in the manual. Might be cost effective and function well to do it inside.
va_connoisseur
Thanks for all the good information/help. I just confirmed with Crutchfield my order should be arriving tomorrow. Quick question, is there any adverse effect of mounting the XM and GPS ants in close proxi to each other?
cntrylvr79
None that I've noticed. mine are about 3 inches from each other. I have had some problems in the past though with sirius antennas.
