miro
Hi all... New to the forum and I'm thinking about getting the F90BT to replace the factory JBL stereo/in-dash cd changer (stupid one line interface without text scrolling!) in my 4Runner. I'm already a Sirius subscriber so I'll be getting the tuner as well, but I was wondering about the interface for Sirius. I've read some posts here saying that the display is horrible, but I can't find any reasons WHY the display is horrible. I imagine it has a multi-line display (at least artist and song title with scrolling text if necessary). If anyone could post a pic or two, that would be awesome. Does the iPod Touch work? From what I've been reading, it doesn't seem to work while the iPhone and other iPods do. I've been doing some research on this particular unit and I'm glad the firmware update seems to have cleared up a lot of issues (or at least made them tolerable). Right now it doesn't sound like any of the remaining issues are deal breakers. TIA!
qkslvr
Sirius only has single line display with limited scrolling.
miro
Sirius only has single line display with limited scrolling. Really? Wow, that's weak. I might have to either pass on this or wait now. I listen to Sirius almost exclusively and there's no point in going from a one line display on the factory stereo to a one line display on the F90BT. Thanks!
miro
Can anyone give a bit more information on the display? I downloaded the owner's manual since I figured it would have pics of the display and it does. qkslvr above said it only has a single line display. Does this mean you have to push the display button to show the artist, then push it again to show the song? Or does it show artist and song title at the same time on two different lines? TIA! qkslvr
I'm pretty sure it displays 1 item with each text button push. channel name/song title/artist. It might even display album name, I don't remember. I'll be leaving this morning on a 3 day roadtrip using the vehicle with the f900bt, so I'll update some answers when I get back. qkslvr
updated info: Sirius displays and scrolls one item per "display" button push: channel name/ channel number/song/artist/ genre/ composer (always shows"no composer").
miro
That's really weak. Thanks for the update! Much appreciated!
eYeKey
could this 1 line Sirius issue be improved upon in a firmware?
miro
could this 1 line Sirius issue be improved upon in a firmware? I would hope it would but I think I read somewhere in these forums that the Sirius tuner isn't made by Pioneer and they didn't have access to the unit or something like that. The unit itself can obviously display multiple lines of info as it does for XM, so maybe it's a tuner issue. I got to play around with the F700BT at Circuit City the other day but they didn't have any satellite radio or anything connected so I was only able to play with the GPS. The screen was very responsive and looked great. IMO, if the Sirius display was multi-line and the GPS 2D map wouldn't face north the entire time, it would be a definite buy for me. I think it was a mistake to have the GPS map always point north when just about every other GPS device rotates the map around the direction you're facing. Oh yeah, they need to improve/fix iPod Touch compatibility. For now, I'm looking at Kenwoods while keeping my eye on the F90BT.
terron
I'm disappointed in the Sirius interface, however, I am a pretty hardcore fan of their channels vs XM and will gladly take a poor interface and great music.
