Need Some Help Please

Hi all.

 

I've just bought a new car and it had an AVIC-X1R installed.

 

I have 2 problems which I cannot seem to sort out.

 

Firstly when I insert a DVD movie (Copied or original) the unit displays "Reading format" for about a minute and then the unit just restarts.

 

I have no NAV disc for the system. Could this be contributing to the issue?

 

So anyway I figured perhaps it just doesn't play DVD's??

 

I had an incar DVD 1 din unit lying around which I know works (Some cheap make not sure of the name) so I installed it and used RCA's into the AV input in the controller box.

 

I get sound and a message which says "Attention Video playback is not possible while driving!" I have wired permanent 12v to the handbrake sensor cable.

 

Please help I'm stuck.
