Help! Maps missing after update

my D-1 just got the 2008 update dvd, bought on ebay.

popped it in ... update bar at bottom loaded fine. completed.

checked the xm logos and most all of them are now new. cool.

 

but no maps. i just get my "home" icon and red arrow, and the background is just blue.

tried to select an address from my address book, and grey box said that i couldn't set a destination ....blah blah" also no voice commands.

 

bad burn?

history: D-1; bought a copy of 2006 maps two years ago; fine.

now updating to 2008.

UPDATE: i'm pretty sure it's a bad burn that i bought.

i downgraded back to my 2006 version.

guess i'll buy through pioneer next time.

i was able to get a refund on the copy that was sent to me, so i'm at square one again.

I just downloaded it from a member on this site..used dual layer dvd to burn it and worked just fine

I had exactly the same problem and I just figured it out this morning. It isn't bad - for some reason, the map disc doesn't contain any map info for certain zoom levels. If you zoom out to .5 miles, the map stuff will appear again. Give it a shot and tell me if it works. After that we can try and figure out why the heck the closer detail levels aren't on the disc.
