AVIC-F90BT restarts or just turns off?

Recommended Posts

Hello all. I just installed the F90BT in my 2005 Trailblazer. At first when I turned on car I got nothing so I figured I did something but I bought the correct harness for my car the one that sends the ok status to my cars computer and gives a switched 12V to the radio. after a few minutes and a few key turns turning it on and off it finally turned on so i thought i fixed it then it turns off again and restarts over and over, ok so i figure its the unit get it exchanged get a brand new one pop it in and it turns on fine works perfectly test it for 15 minutes straight no problem.

Then I turn off my truck and come back like 1/2 hour later turn it on again and after 5 minutes it shuts off no more restarting but turns off completely. Then it turns on again later on?? like nothing happened so I take it for a test drive come back home turn it off again leave it for 1/2 hour come back turn keys and it doesnt turn on?? one thing i noticed too is when it wont turn on my door chimes and key in ignition chimes dont go off when they do I know its working and it does it turns on?

I am confused as to what the problem may be is it my harness or just the little computer that came with it? Is it a wiring problem? if it was though i figure it wouldnt turn on at all? just looking for some advice maybe someone ran into this same problem before or Im doing something wrong. any help would be appreciated. Thanks M4K4V3LI

My guess is it's your wire harness. I have a 2003 Trailblazer, and I use the same type of connection you have (sends a digital signal to the cpu to enable the 12v).

I noticed that when I have the wire harness for the Avic connected to the wire harness for the Trailblazer, even with the Avic disconnected, you should get the door chime. It shouldn't matter if the radio is connected or not.

I'd check the connections on the harness, or try exchanging it for a new. It may be bad.

Thanks for the reply Mod187. I drove it this morning and it did not turn on went to my moms then to work nothing went on an errand then just like that it turned back on? now its on but Im sure when I go to lunch it will turn off again? :(

Im going to buy a new harness and replace the computer part of it I went throught his thing meticulously when wiring it together and put the red with red and yellow with yellow then grounded out the red/yellow the parking break and the radio itself. It seems weird to me that it will work sometimes then other times its like it has no power at all??? no chimes or sounds then i come back put key in and chimes come on and 2 seconds later units starts up?? I dont get it.

I bought it off Ebay hchavez? do I still have warranty with Scosche?

mod187 I dont have onstar and I got the harness that was for trucks without onstar?

Im thinking of buying another one and switching out the computer only then if it still fails at least i know its not the computer.

Another thing i just noticed when i drove it an hour ago it worked but there was a light on my dash saying the 4 wheel drive needs servicing wtf??? I didnt touch anything that woudl affect the 4 whl drv I checked to make sure the connection was good because I did remove it to install this thing the knob is in and ok even give me light and clicks when i turn it but it wont shift into 4Wheel? maybe coincident? well it worked the last 4 times i started my car they were all within 3 hours so well see right now im about to go again. :o
