TxFireman1972
I just bought a D3, waiting for it to get here. I'm wanting to add a backup camera and looking for some info. Does the camera come on automatically when I put the truck in reverse? If so, will any camera work like that or just specific ones? I see lots of different ones availiable but want to make sure I get a good one. Also dont really want to have to manually switch it over to camera when I want to back up. Thanks in advance for any info.
CamelTowing
If you hook up the reverse wire of the D3 to your car correctly, it will switch automatically
jaedee
There is a wire from your avic that hoooks up to the reverse wire of your vehicle (you need to use the wire from the avic harness because it has a resistor which I believe cuts the voltage to 5 volts instead of 12) and the camera will have a separate power wire that needs to see a 12volt source which you can wire directly to your reverse wire of your vehicle. This way, when you put your vehicle in reverse the camera will turn on and the avic will switch to the correct video input.
firedawgs
Yes, it is pretty straight foward. Use a volt meter for you reverse light and the rest is a pretty simple install.

You probably would want to hook the Reverse wire up to a constant 12V source so that you could use the camera even if you are not in reverse
