avic n2 F**ked up, not the flex cable, ((SOLVED))

Recommended Posts

hi everybody...

the other day i sent my n2 to get the free flex cable replacement from pioneer. the buttons had stopped working and the screen was black.

But pioneer told me to fix the unit was $549 for the main assembly. since i dont have the money at the moment, i told them just to do the flex cable upgrade and send me back the unit.

now at least the screen works and i can control most of the stuff from the touoch screen, (source, up, down, left, right etc...)

However the volume button is dead, also sometimes when i touch the volume knob or the right knobe the unit restarts. It also restartes when i move it like if theres something loose.

MY question is should i:

a) buy a new face-place and pray

B) use an ebay repair service

c) take a hammer to that mu*h*rf*ck*r

i orderd a remote from ebay to see if maybe i can control volume that way but any ideas would be greatly apreciated

thanks

((problemsolved))

iended up taking apart the unit to see if i found anything loose. and sure enuff the mini flex cable that connects the faceplate to the mainboard was loose and causing a bad contact.

the plastic clip that holds the mini flex cable to the mainboard was broken. so i used industrial double sided tape to hold the cable in place.

now with the cable in place i have a FULLY functional n2 again

i can't believe pioneer wanted $500+ to fix this.

i guess they were gonna swap out the whole mainboard...

hope this info can help someone
