Everything Works but Screen Won't Open?
thatswhatshesaid replied to nsurenu's topic in Problems/Troubleshooting
Yeh, It could be a problem with the Ribbon cable. My screen wouldn't come out either or it would just come out a little bit. I would pull it out manually when I hit the open button. It would retract fine, but wouldn't open correctly. Everything worked fine except for the screen not coming out. I replaced the Flex Ribbon cable and it fixed the issue. -

I have no sympathy for you. You aren't just making a backup copy for yourself. You are selling this to customers for who knows what price. You are taking all costs and profits away from the people who actually programmed this software. You are just as much a thief as Jlong and I'm glad he hasn't sent you any discs and now you are asking someone else to aid you in a Federal offense. IF you want to break the law, take that pathetic excuse of a brain you have and figure out how to do it yourself After spending upwards of around $2,000k on these systems customers should re -
Installed my new Flex Ribbon Cable and everything works perfectly.

I checked my N2 hide-away unit and it does emit a whiny pitch to it, but it isn't overly loud. I can hear it if it's like a foot or two away from my ear.

avic n2 F**ked up, not the flex cable, ((SOLVED))

I would keep an eye out for a N2 unit for cheap with just a smashed touchscreen that can be easily replaced with your units on ebay or craigs list, but the repair guys will probably snatch it up first. -
yes, it has a fan on the back where the grill section is. It will make whirling noise because of the fan, small fans are quite noisy like the ones that sit on top of graphic cards in computers. I just sat mine behind the actual N2 unit in my truck, really didn't take more than 5-10 minutes to get it out. If it were me I'd rather install it then waiting for 2 weeks to have someone look at it. If you do install it make sure to keep the fan opening clear, don't push it up against anything or it will overheat and potentially destroy it.

It won't open or close with the hideaway box plugged in. Should it, without the flex cable? I did some digging around and found the answer The Flex Ribbon cable controls everything except for the things I mentioned that work with the hideaway unit connected. If the Hideaway box isn't plugged in you will see nothing except for the security light when the detachable face is removed. I'll let ya know if it was the problem where the screen wouldn't come out all the way.

I really don't understand what you're getting at. Did you melt off the contact points? If you did, I believe the N1 bypass will work. It is the same exact board I think. -

If you're not good with soldering look into a circuitwriter pen, it will remove your doubt. I wouldn't open the unit unnecessarily, unless you are trying to make a repair. -

Here's what happened: Screen would come out a little bit, but wouldn't come all the way out so I was manually pulling it out all the way so it could flip up. There was no other problems than this. I worked in the construction field so I thought there might be some dust/dirt caught inside. I took it apart to see if anything was stuck inside and pulled it open a little to hard and tore the main flex cable right at the circular bend, it's completely torn in half. That was like a year n a half ago, been sitting in my closet ever since. I just ordered a new Flex cable and I'm
