toofast4yourazz
Can the Dimmer wire for the avic-d3, interferes with the subwoofer? because I get a loud amplified humming noise when i turn my headlights on with my amp and sub hooked up.. since the dimmer switch is activated when u turn headlights on, i was thinking it could be that.. any ideas? BTW, even when i unplug the amp, i still get a semi low and quiet humming noise from the side stock speakers..
MisFit
you might have an amp wiring issue. either bad rcas'. or a grounding issue. or you ran your power and rca's down the same side of the car. do you have h.i.d. headlights?
mlarco52
why would hids affect it in any way? just wondering because hids do draw less current then the stock 55watts bulbs....hids draw 35watts
MisFit
ive seen hid's cause some odd problems in audio systems before. just a thought. saw a few that actually cut the radio reception when the headlights were turned on. dont know if they were poorly wired, or just crappy hid's. i didnt put them in
ct_mike
If you do have hid's check their ground. They do use "only" 35 watts, but it is at a much higher voltage and that higher voltage can put out different frequency interference. The ballasts are step-up transformers and that could be the source of your noise. ct_mike
toofast4yourazz
ok i fixed it, i took out the head unit, and found the culprit, a positive wire lost its cover and was exposed touching the dimmer wire, which was causing the noise. thanks for the help
