kjc1950
I have a Ford Five Hundred with the factory navi system, which I believe is an AVIC-D2. The D2 from Pioneer uses 2 dvd's - West and East. The unit in my 500 came with one DVD for the entire country. Can the Pioneer dvd's be used in the Ford system without problems? If yes, what's the correct part number? Sorry if this is a basic or stupid question! ...but would appreciate any help anyone can offer. Thx. kjc
cntrylvr79
Ford's factory nav is not the d2. Nothing ike it actually. The poineer discs will not work. However if the dealer installed a d2 well then you're set.
kjc1950
This is an article on the Pioneer/Ford partnering on the Ford system. http://www.motortrend.com/features/auto ... 8_pioneer/ I could have sworn I found an article that said it's the D2... but a quick Google search came up empty. The owner's manual for the D2 and the manual for the Ford unit make it appear that they are identical. Are you sure they're different units? Thanks for yr help! kjc

GnatGoSplat
If you are really daring, you could always try getting into the service menu and doing a force write of the software on the Pioneer discs into the flash memory on the Ford HU. This could kill it though, so only do it at your own risk!
