Xtreme Inc. Posted December 21, 2008 Report Share Posted December 21, 2008 Is there anywhere I can catch the VSS wire on a 1989 Ford Mustang 5.0 liter instaead of going to the manual transmission? Could it be located in the instrument cluster? I think it is grey/black. I didn't find any info on the VSS site posted. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Xtreme Inc. Posted December 29, 2008 Author Report Share Posted December 29, 2008 Sorry to say that everyone who tried to help was wrong. I stayed up all night working in & under that car! Under @ the trans, there is NO Grey/Black wire @ the sending unit or anywhere else. I ended up obtaining a wiring diagram of an 88 model (which IS different) & matched up 1 plug off of the CCM (cruise control module), the wire colors & locations. The 2nd plug didn't match colors @ all, so I counted the plug's wires from the 88 Mustang & then did the same for my 89 & where there would be a grey/blk wire for the 87-88 model's, there was a GREEN/WHITE wire in the same location, so after testing & hooking up to it, guess what?>>>>>>>>>>>> Yep, IT WORKED!! SO, for the record, the VSS wire on an 89 is @ the CCM (to the left of the clutch pedal) & it is GREEN/WHITE. I appreciate the help. I couldn't even find anyone who had the location of the CCM listed either. Hard work & enough time is what it took. IT REALLY SUCKED!!!!!!! Quote Link to post Share on other sites
