reckoner
avh-p4000dvd will mute after listening and it can't be undone. A friend installed this unit, didn't do it right. I have gone through and wired it properly and have done the brake bypass. Everything works, until the unit mutes. Nothing remedies it, just luck of the draw after turning it back on. Any ideas, nothing in the owners manual. Wiring double checked. It's an 08 Silverado, it needed the special harness for onstar if that helps.

AWILLIAMS64
is the mute wire on the radio hooked to anything? if it is unhook it and see if it still does it. or make sure it is not bare at the end and touching anything
reckoner
Figured it out, there was an option for telephone in which turning it off remedied the situation. My guess is the onstar communications were making the radio think it was on a phone call as there were no phones synced via bluetooth.
