Hennessy08STI
who ever installed it? hooked it up wrong, it only turns on and off by turning your vehicle on and off unless they wired it to a positive hot. take it back and tell them to wire it up correct. Or better yet take it to someone that knows what they are doing, did you pay to have it installed?
livelife559
yea i did pay, i paid 100 bucks at a local place. did they hook it up in a wrong spot or something? this is ridiculous my battery has never died on my like this before. did they hook it up to where its draining me battery at all times? Hennessy08STI
Yes they must have hooked the main power wire to a always hot 12 volts, instead of wiring it into the cars wire harness, what else does not work? Sorry dude but they messed up your install, that head unit will kill your battery in 5 to 10 hours if it is left on.
Hennessy08STI
and there is no off button
livelife559
thanks for the quick reply bro, ill probably take it to them tommorow and tell them to fix that. what should i tell them? to check if its hooked up to a always hot 12 and they need to hook it up to the wiring harness? and also the wiring harness kit should be on there already correct? so fixing it should take very long, and i also hope this doesnt must my f90bt up
livelife559
and also everything works fine. the system turns on when the car turns on (is there a way from not having it turn on when i turn my car on?) and it also turns off when my car turns off. im thinking it could be that my battery might be bad maybe. so ill have to check that out. offroaderf150
sounds like you have a bad cell in your battery. if it was going bad and the battery died while they were installing it, it could have been just enough to kill it completely. go get your battery load tested at autozone...they do it for free and will tell you if its bad or not. Hennessy08STI
So it does turn off when you turn you car off? My bad I thought you meant it won't turn off at all
Hennessy08STI
how old is your battery? and this started right after they did the install?
livelife559
yes it does shut off when my car does. and i have a 2006 chevy silverado so the battery is about three years old. and my battery died on me once before but that was when i left my jensen screen (old deck) on for about an hour with out the truck running. other than that it has been fine. and today it died and i jumped started it and then about couple hours later it was dead again. i think it might be my battery i will get it tested tommorow and will keep you guys updated. and other than the battery this has got to be the best deck on the market, load time isnt even that slow this deck is sickk. Hennessy08STI
It sounds like you need a new battery, have it tested and make sure your trucks charging system is working anyone with a volt meter can check that for you while it is running before you buy a new battery. most likely your battery is just dead.
